It is said that the only guarantees in life are death and taxes. In the BDSM Lifestyle, the closest guarantee you have is that you, yourself, will look after your best interest and safety. And even then, many in the lifestyle fail at that. No matter what anyone promises you, guarantees you, commits to, there is ALWAYS the chance in life that the promise, guarantee, commitment will be broken one way or the other. There is no guarantee you will not get injured. Injury is an inherent risk with most kinks in the BDSM Lifestyle and is something we all should be aware of. There is no guarantee that the relationship or dynamic will last a lifetime, no matter how much we want it to. As we evolve, there is always the chance that partners will grow apart. Again, we should all be aware of the possible emotional hurt that can happen. If you want a guarantee, look into return policies at stores, but even many of those have something in the fine print that reduces the guarantee. The BDSM Lifestyle is part of our life. And in life nothing is 100% guaranteed except those taxes and death. Which many have tried to cheat anyway. Go into it with your eyes open and while striving to make the most out of everything, to make it last, keep in mind that many future possibilities are possible. It’s better than sitting on the sidelines and never trying, because that might be the third guarantee in life to go with death and taxes. There is practical wisdom and truth in what you say. And often, truth and reality can hurt. However I do appreciate the encouragement you offer in the final paragraph.
