A little Honesty and a repost for the day. {reply}

One mistake many people make when first entering the lifestyle, is relying on one person to show them the way or one book or one website.

Knowledge is an illusion . .
Don't let the noise of other's opinions
drown out your own inner voice.
And most important, have the
courage to follow your heart and
intuition. They somehow already
know what you want to become.
Everything else, is secondary.

The greatest enemy of knowledge,
is not ignorance. It's the illusion of
knowledge.

Being new myself, I had to learn that this lifestyle can be a lot of different lifestyles depending on each person's needs and wants. When you come from a vanilla lifestyle, you expect things to follow a certain pattern and that is the beauty of this lifestyle. It can be whatever you need it to be. So you can't learn "everythng" about it from any one person or book.

No significant
learning occurs
without a significant
dynamic relationship.

Intuition and emotion (your heart) are NOT knowledge or the application of knowledge. They actually get in the way of knowledge and it application. See post Real Political Debate for a complete explanation. Please do not use intuition or your heart. You will almost always be wrong. That's what's happening with the abortion argument, the Thomas affair, critical race theory, police brutality, arms/guns, etc..... Without logical arguments and rationality, knowledge and the application thereof is useless and dangerous.

Creativity uses intuition and emotion but those steps then have to conform to logic and rationality. There is a need for creativity, but not in the application of knowledge to public policy. Logic and rationality must win the day or chaos will reign.

The post isn't concerned
with political debate or
the application of public
policy. It's concerned
with the validity of knowledge
without experience.

My experience is every DOM is different so in a way you might as well throw out the rule book.... Ha💋

You are right.
There are commonalities
but how each person responds
and evolves within a relationship
is unique to that dynamic. What
you learn from one relationship
rarely applies to next, but the
knowledge needed to be safe is
learned intuition. Life has
a way of making rules obsolete.
Master & Johnson touched on this
in their book on human sexuality.

Wow. You have that down to a science when most people get into BDSM they haven't a clue about what they are doing. They just read a book or saw a movie and got aroused. They CAN'T follow their intuition because they are lost and have no direction. You would have them flounder and learn by trial and error, while harming others while they learn.
That's just plain dangerous as well as stupid.

Relationships involve honesty, trust,
respect and open communication
between partners.
By the time a person is old enough to
pursue a relationship they understand
the difference between honesty and dishonesty,
trust and deceiving, respect and disrespect
and when communication lacks sincerity.
Will they get stepped on, lied to and cheated
on, hell yes. But there is no illusion in those
lessons ron, that is how we learn.
New beginnings are often disguised as painful
endings.
Whatever you do, don't take yourself too seriously
because if you think you have life under control . .
you don't!!
