Empathy is a "skill set"...... Empathy is a "skill" that can be learned and developed over time and comes naturally to most people. It Is the most important leadership skill according to some research. Empathy has always been a critical skill for leaders when it is voluntary and reliable. It is described as a deliberate and cognitive skill of creating and working with mental models about other people. Do Dominants need Empathy? YES!!!

Empathy is a "skill set"...... pseudo-empathy is a skill set. The power to manipulate another person's emotional condition for one's own benefit. Narcissists show the same crocodile-tears behavior. They deceive you with their fake empathy without feeling your emotions. Empathy is our ability to understand and feel another person's emotions. Narcissists can understand, but cannot feel our pain.

The definition you provide states that empathy is an ability. Not all abilities are skills. In fact, most are capabilities and not all people are capable of selfless empathy. Empathy is an "innate" ability. An innate ability is a trait or characteristic that is present at birth. It is always present and was not a learned behavior. A skill is learned behavior.

it's a core ability as a infant with the huge amount of learning that is done in early childhood. If empathy is a core value that we teach our children perhaps we don't realize the damage we have done to the 44,000 children exposed to active shooter events last year. The active shooter drills instead of normal interaction, fear instead of nurturing. Politicians like desantis want to control what is taught in schools but have failed the most basic teaching . . empathy.
