Affirmative action is great until you get discriminated against (Reply)

The scotus soon will be ruling on the constitutionality of affirmation action programs used in hiring,college admissions etc.. And I'm all in favor of it being removed.

Myth vs reality . .

Women don't need affirmative action any more . . .
White men are 33 percent of the U.S. population,
but 65 percent of physicians, 71 percent of lawyers,
80 percent of tenured professors, and 94 percent
of school superintendents.

Affirmative action does not require preferences.
Hiring qualified women and minorities is similar to
the preferences given to veterans in hiring and to
of alumni in college admissions.

before the Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission, approximately 3% percent are
discrimination cases against white men.

Yes, facts. Not helpful. He doesn't care as in HIS perception, he was already discriminated against and therefore it was wrong. He claims he was more qualified. 80 or 93, passing is 70. Plus, maybe the test was biased towards him? Like all IQ tests and other tests (medical schools, law schools, etc!).

When racism, sexism, religiousism (or anti-atheism) etc are over, then affirmative action isn't needed. So far, white men like me are preferred at all levels.

However, facts be damned! Go SCOTUS. Be that political asshole we know you to be! I predict a 6-3 decision against affirmative action along the usual lines.....

who's raw score is 80 becomes
a net score of 110.

Years ago, I applied for a job as a fireman as they were revamping and adding on more stations, more help. Hundreds applied. One had to be physically fit, and those who were, were given a test. So I went in for the test, we sat at desks and were given a folder. After everyone received a folder they instructed us to open it and it had 5 o r so pictures and they said to look at the pictures. After some time they took away the pictures and handed out the test which was asking what one saw in the different pictures... How many windows were open in the first pic, were there any people on the roof on the second pic, etc. I scored the second highest grade on the test. They threw it out as no minorities passed it.

Yes men are openly discriminated against when hiring...

Let's be honest...you only want AA so you can legally discriminate against white men and then go home,sip some tea,take a hot bath and feel you did good..

By sticking it.

paying jobs are simply not offered
to minorities. Yes, I was denied
a supervisory position at cape
kennedy because I was white but
I simply went to work in the
government. The black guy that
took the job was more qualified
than I was, but without help he
wouldn't have been interviewed.

LOL I went into the healthcare profession...
BS degree... education took the money
Also after passing the first semester, A hospital paid for my education in return I had to work for them for two years. Believe it or not, that two years guaranteed job, got me passed the discriminations...

No clue what you are talking about! I am a civil servant for 27 years. No test. I was hired for what I could do and what I had done. Was I treated better than the theoretical black-asian woman? Yes. Was there one thing I could do about it? No. The only saving grace was that my devote Christian physicist boss did not take my atheism into account - because it was illegal back then to do so. We'd still be living off that law suite award! Today however, it would be absolutely ok for him to discriminate against me because I am an atheist. Thank you SCOTUS.

I did predict it however! 6-3 against along usual lines! My only joy in all this?

RACISM, SEXISM, CLASSISM, AGISM, ETCISMS NO LONGER EXIST PER SCOTUS! YAY!

Now, go call your senators, congressmen, and state and local yahoos and tell them you are watching if they are behaving like SCOTUS just told them to and if not, if they discriminate, you will hold them accountable! Repubs are breaking the sexism and classism constantly. Violation of what their OWN SCOTUS told them!

Of course, I am confused. Not more anti discrimination laws, but woman are property of their husband's andyor the state. Hmmm.... I like it!
