Something I have always believed a Dominant should be, is consistent.

If consistency is about reliability
and intent . . .

impulse and instincts.

 Consistency in general, flexibility as needed.

There's no sense in a Dominant being a stone with no give all the time.

 I don't think consistency is the same as being rigid. I interpret it more in the sense of not being whimsical. And in that context I certainly would consider consistency as an important aspect of any good dom.
And consistency is not the opposite of being spontaneous. Those two can very well coexist next to each other in the same person.

how you define consistent isn't
important. The importance in
a relationship is compatibility,
whether you're consistent, rigid
or more flexible you should seek
a partner that shares your temperament.
