Smell, odour, stink, whiff, bouquet, aroma, essence, stench, scent, catnip. Whatever you call it, the culprit is pheromones.

Pheromones.
A pheromone is a secreted or excreted chemical factor that triggers a social response in members of the same species. Pheromones are chemicals capable of acting like hormones outside the body of the secreting individual, to impact the behaviour of the receiving individuals.

Like all vertebrates, humans excrete or secrete many different chemicals via their urine, anal excrement, breath, genitalia, saliva, and skin glands. Most proponents of the human pheromone concept assume that skin glands are the source of the active pheromonal agents.

Evolution
I suppose when you look at it logically, it's no wonder that smell has an effect on all of us. We are programmed genetically to respond to it. The chemicals involved may be the same, but the response to it can vary wildly among human individuals. Some smells might excite one person, but disgust another. As far as other species are concerned the response would appear to be more uniform among individuals. It is powerful enough to trigger a memory, strong emotional responses, sexually stimulate, warn of danger or identify an individual.

Smell is useful in so many ways. The smell of smoke can warn you of the danger that there is fire somewhere. It can stop you from eating rotten food. It can also produce sensations of euphoria, as well as identify friend or foe.

Sexual stimulation
What about when it's sexually stimulating outside of procreation and serves no real purpose. Where does that come from. Is it learned. Is it the result of a sexual experience, which we then go on to sexualise, or perhaps we associate a particular smell with a reward and then seek the smell to gain the reward.

Personally
I have a particular fetish for men's body odour and it's very particular. The smell of mildly cheesy feet, socks, and the smell of well worn trainers are like catnip to me and give me an erection. As does the aroma of an unwashed buttcrack. That musky, beefy, funky ripe, oh so personal smell, is delightful to me. Dirty underwear that carry the scent of urine, spunk, sweat, testosterone or whatever name you want to call the collective essence, is a smell I would have no problem in smelling all day long.

To me, it's very up close and personal, extremely intimate. It's pretty much as close as you can get to a person, to like their smell. The practice of foot worship, sniffing socks and trainers seems to be prevalent among young scally and chav lads and is widely practised by submissive people. Perhaps that is part of it, smelling someone, taking in their scent is a submissive thing. I've tried to shine a little light on the in's and out's of smell and would love to hear from anyone who shares this particular fetish. Please feel free to contact me.
