Messenger problem

I've noticed something about the messenger. For some people, if I message them on a mobile device, it is never delivered. It sas sent and gets lost in the ether. If I message them on a computer, it gets delivered and I get a response on both devices. Once I get a response on my mobile device, I can send messages and they will be delivered, but only after initiating a conversation on a computer.

Strange and frustrating
