Insomnia - Poor sleep I used to be a great sleeper - to bed at 10pm and up at 6am - 8 hours of deep, restful sleep. But something has changed and now I rarely if ever have such nights and that is even with he help of a sleeping tablet. What does one do in the middle of the night, awake and restless? A default is to watch something familiar on television and hope that it will lull me to sleep; another is to read something that is sufficiently dense that the effort of trying to concentrate will knock me out - Will and Ariel Durant's History of Philosophy used to do this for me; or, maybe, a snack of some kind; and there is always the obvious standby for this group of logging on to Alt and scanning for messages or comments on my writings (there are rarely any so this doesn't take long) or doing some new writing (which is often what I do). At some point, my little eyes get heavy and I retreat to the couch and et voila I am asleep for a little while longer. But when I wake again I am not rested or refreshed and am in a funk for the rest of the day. I know - who cares? But I warned you - writing is a way I segue back to sleep. Forewarned is forearmed, right? Yawn. Once more unto the couch, dear friends. |

Still awake and I have used this time to go back and reread some of the stories I have written and comment on them. Yes, this is a kind of self-indulgent ego surfing but I did it anyway. To my surprise, some of the stories are not bad. Not sure that's a good thing as it means I will certainly keep writing. You have been warned - lol.

smoke some weed, put something boring on the TV, goodnight

Scotch, I think and boring TV should do it.

I drink a cup of Extra Sleepy Time Tea. In an hour I am sleepy

I slept wonderfully last night - thanks - turned out scotch (first) and tea (later) was a winning combination.
