I am not sure that there is a natural progression - tenuous or not - from Sub to Slave but both parties in consensual D/s have to be attentive to this so that if it does happen it is intentional.

As to the "seed", I tend to agree that submission or domination is bred in the bone. It is not something you act as, it is something you are.

i tend to agree with what You've written about "the seed", as well as NNFU's comment. In a way it's the nature or nurture argument. To me, truly submissive individuals, those not simply playing a part, have the need to submit embedded in their personalities. Sometimes it comes to the forefront at an early age, sometimes later in life, and some probably suppress it forever.

the first two....coercion and capitulation to me. not submission....
there is no consent, or negotiation, there is no balancing of needs going on there...

I'm not sure that there is a distinction between sub and slave and pet and brat and little and hucow or any other version ....I have considered them all and thought: yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.....
honestly....to me the word is just a preference, its interchangeable....I am all of them, they are all of me....
I think its more interesting to consider how a different personality or connection could draw out a different aspect of a let's call them 's-type'. they might be a pet with one but a slave with another....because of the natural interaction between the two....
but its all theory with me, I have not tested that out.....just speculation.
