When gratitude is no joke

Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character.
At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached.
May'be that cute little one over there or that one that sits alone in the inky black

I have a lot of gratitude for being born to the mother I was. Once I exited my mid teens, I knew beyond a doubt that I have a rare and amazing mom who is kind, warm, attentive, genuine, accepting and loving. To those of us she loves, she's without equal and beyond compare.

I know so many who didn't have the kind of love and affection based family or childhood that I did. In fact I don't know of any growing up who didn't want to live with us. Even now, as much as it embarrasses me at times to go places with her, it delights me even more to see how total strangers still gravitate to her, grabbing her hand to talk, spilling tears laughing or sharing their stories or grief. People at the next table at a diner, in line at a show, at the checkout counter at the drug store.

I don't have the overabundance of those things that she has perfected, but by nature or nurture shes passed along some.
I may not be the master, but I sure am grateful to know and understand enough to share...the power of touch and hugs, deep love that isn't situational, gratitude for what you have and who you are especially when you did it on your own, independence, simplicity with grace and extravagance in your visions, fierce tenderness and gentle fury.

How such an amazing woman survived the ungrateful and selfish gen-Xrs that are my brother and I, I will never know.

I am blessed and thankful beyond belief to still have such a strong and loving example of what beauty and gratitude can and should be.

Feeling gratitude isn't born in us, it's something we are taught, and in turn, we teach our children.

Such nice words for your mom. I look back at my Mom and realize she sacrificed so much for myself and all my siblings.

I have a gratitude for being adopted by the woman who became my Mother. She was an amazing lady.

*nods in understanding* Mine did as well. It astounds and humbles me how blessed I am to have such an amazing woman in my world.
