Not a fan So here we are, February th. Valentines Day. I have never been a big fan of this made up holiday promoted Hallmark and florists. It just doesn't make sense to me. I'd rather get flowers on a random Tuesday, than a bouquet of roses marked up 200% because of the day. Go out to dinner? Sure, but how about just so I can have a night off from cooking. Chocolates? Yummy at any time, but I;m free right now. Sparklies? well, those ARE my weakness. But again, why today? Meh, I'm just not feeling it. But Happy Valentines to all who indulge I guess. |

I was married on Valentine's Day a number of years ago. It's fair to say that I'm a true romantic. I didn't buy her an engagement ring however offered her father a goat. He thought about it for a minute and said no that wouldn't be necessary. True story. Howling at the moon and mal ad osteo.

Well I think you have a point about giving flowers, chocolates, or being taken out to dinner at other times. However having said that I think most women wouldn't be happy if we let valentines day pass without doing something. Hope you had a nice sunday anyway. All the best - stay safe.

I agree with you as well. This made-up holiday is for the industry. Valentines Day should be every day if you're in a relationship. I received a dozen multi-colored long stem roses today from my niece, whom I adore. When she gave them to me and wished me a "Happy Valentines Day" I said, "thank you, but, I'm lucky I know its Sunday' "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

I try to make every day Valentine's Day for those around me.....after all didn't the Beatles say "All We Need is Love"

Ok, this is a secret, so don't tell anyone.. It's all about the attitude.. February 15th is one of the greatest days of the year.. I just bought 80 ounces of chocolate that was 1/2 of on the 1/2 off price.. That will last me.. at least a week or two.. Then I go on my no chocolate diet until the day after Easter.. The reality is we don't have enough Day after Holidays for chocolate lovers..

For some of us the day is simply a Tuesday or whatever it falls on that year. For me it is just my birthday. I do not need a calendar to remind me to appreciate all of the things in my life. I will blow your mind like a verbal John Wilkes Booth

I remember it as Saint Valentine's Day growing up. The day was associated with historic and religious overtones. With age it becomes less significant.

If it comes to valentines day, and you feel you need to do something... probably very likely your not the romantic type  So yea, I always thought it's a bollocks day. It's not Xmas for love for fuck sakes
