So I took my Mom to the library yesterday, with the firm instructions to self "DO NOT take out any more books" Yeah well, that didn't work out so well *L* Right now I have 4 books on my Kindle, and checked out: Lover Unveiled by J.R. Ward-love me some BDB Prodigal Son by J Gregg Hurwitz-exceptional series The Book of Lost Names by Kristen Harmel-new author for me, interesting topic, we shall see. Lethal Agent-Vince Flynn-not as good since the author passed, same as with my beloved Tom Clancy Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese-a re-read, but I loved it. So, yes, I'll be delightfully entertained for the next 2 weeks. What are you all reading? Anything good?

I'm actually re-reading a great book called " The Four Agreements " by Don Miguel Ruiz. It's always on my nightstand. I love the book and highly recommend it. "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

Any of Madeline Albright's books. They are a fascinating look into the mind of a forceful and brilliant woman.

rayne I too am a book junkie and agree - once an author has died , those allowed to continue under their name just cannot re-produce the same quality I have just finished "Untamed" by Glennon Doyle! It is very inspiring A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. George Bernard Shaw Jenny

I like reading too. Although I read mostly classics, I like reading contemporary authors also. Currently I'm reading "120 Days of Sodom" by Marquise de Sade.

Once upon a time I was an avid Dean Koontz and Patricia Cornwell reader. I've just let my book reading go by the wayside but it might be just what i need right now. Thanks for the inspiration !

I don't have any fiction on my kindle. Everything I have is for an electrical engineer. I'm currently focused on the raspberry PI Pico and micro Python. I used to buy books specifically for the kindle from amazon, however I got curious and investigated how the paper white kindle works. Now I can take any book or document and convert it to a format that is readable by a kindle and upload it to the device. Curiosity has certainly made my life easier. I have another paper white kindle in going to put some science fiction on whenever I get some time to read something that's non technical. I have a lot of sci-fi books in digital format, but lack the time to read it at the moment. ...happy readying...

Much like drmgirl I've let my book reading slide, I used to read quite a lot, must pick it up again. Someone once said, "Only two things change who you are as a person. The people you meet & the books you read." I think he was really talking about non fiction in that instance. Not that there's anything wrong in reading fiction, as you say some of it can be difficult to put across in a film. I'm tempted to get hold of a book they were talking about in the newspaper. It's about the Octopus. In the wild they learn to recognise divers & play sophisticated games, including solving complex puzzles. In captivity, they wanted the lights out at night. They soon learned to squirt water at the lights, causing the laboratory lights to fuse. On one occation they fed the Octopus with defrosted prawns, they prefer Crab. One researcher watched in amazement as an Octopus, present with a prawn, fixed her with a beady eye, held the prawn aloft in one tentacale, & slowly backed across its tank to an outflow pipe where, still staring at her, it deposited it to be sucked away. The protest could hardly have been clearer. Other Minds - By Professor Peter Godfrey-Smith.

Currently, I've been drawn to three types of book: - Informative. For instance, about languages and their evolution. Or ancient civilizations. - Fantasy - Science fiction I'm tired of anything dealing with philosophy, politics, self help and such, so I take refuge in subjects far from the ugly reality.

Oh yes, love me some BDB too.

"Time riders" - Alex Scarrow "La passe-miroir" - Christelle Dabos Hi Gowron, thank you for stopping in and commenting *smiles* I to try and stay away from anything TOO heavy. For me, reading is an escape from reality. How is the Time Riders? That seems like something I would like. Have you read "The Wheel of Time"? Hi softrayne, "The Wheel of Time" in on my "to read" list. As for "Time riders", it's a series of 9 books and I'm still to finish the 2nd. Enjoying it so far. A secret agency recruits people who were going to die in accidents like the Titanic and charges them with correcting deviations from recorded history. Somewhat like "Time Patrol" from Poul Anderson.

I haven't read any Tom Clancy since he passed. Who is writing under his name now? I started reading his books around 1985 with The Hunt for Red October and Red Storm Rising. "In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act." ---George Orwell
