Luck? Blessed?

I was smiled upon today by
someone
or
something.
It's snowing in my area and
NO ONE here can drive in the snow.
Never mind the state/city officials didn't bother to prepare the roads prior to the known snowstorm.

Anyway, back to my luck.

Driving along one interstate, trying to merge on the ramp to the other interstate, was the longest line of non-moving cars.
After 30 minutes in the line, I think hey! There's a different way to get home. It sucks, but shoot, so does sitting and not moving.
So I take the other way, and in passing those in the line, I find that the cars are unable to make it up the ramp due to ice.
Great. Glad I got out of the line.

So 2 exits further is my exit. I take it. I'm doing 20mph.
And as I come off the exit (which has no ramp), my car hits solid ice and I begin to spin.
Yay! My daddy taught me what to do!! I've got this, I'll be good to go.

Right?

Of course not!

My vehicle begins to slow, but still does a complete 360 and I think, phew! The worst is over! But does the car stop spinning? Oh nooo .. that would be too easy. I wind up stopped and facing the cars that are behind me.

Now I'm lucky -- or blessed -- or both:
it's a 4 lane road traveling one way,
the line of cars that I feared hitting had come to a complete stop,
they didn't honk at me,
and I managed not to hit ANYTHING!

Phew!!!

So, 2 hours and 15 minutes after leaving the office,
which is normally a 25-30 minute drive home,
I got home and said,
I need a large fucking drink!!

Thanks everyone! The drink was marvelous .. and a bit strong. Venturing out with the kid tonight to see a concert .. prepared to drive 10mph to get there! Luckily it's not too far away. Keep your fingers crossed regardless.
