The Tiger and The Lamb

William Blake’s The Tyger typifies the fascination with the dualism of man, a central theme of the Romantics. This sense of extreme contrast is also central to my interest in BDSM.

The Tyger (from Songs Of Experience)

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare sieze the fire?

And what shoulder, & what art.
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? & what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And watered heaven with their tears,
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

Thank you so much wiggle. I think he really captures emotions with words so well and BDSM is completely tied in with emotions to me. The lyrics to World Without Tears are so powerful even if saddening.

I'm so glad you're enjoying the blog; it's a joy to have you come and visit. Thank you.

c, no I've never seen it but it sounds fascinating. I must!

I definitely have that image of the sadistic God with the sinister smile when I read this. That's a great description of it!

Wow Naughty, thank you for this. The image you've painted sets the stage for an amazing encounter to unleash itself to say the least. Grrrrrrrr!

Have a lovely day!
