People who really love their work

I was walking around my neighborhood earlier today running errands, the weather being a bit cool but a perfectly sunny day when I saw Pedro leaving work, the man who I always bring my bicycle to because he loves bicycles and he’s so good at what he does.

I immediately sensed the love and pride he has for his work and not only that, but Pedro is a really nice person. No matter how busy he might be at work, he’ll come over and look the bike over often fixing something right on the spot because it would bother him to see me ride off knowing something’s not right.

When I see people who love what they do and really care, it makes my day.

ya know...
this is going to sound like bragging, cuz it's me telling the story of b~ but oh well

i love my job. (there are days i like it less, overall tho, i love it)
my bosses over the years have been really great to me in allowing me to express myself as an individual (read: goofball)
the pic i have on my blog header shows very slightly, a headband a friend gave me for xmas (on it is a fuzzy red star that reads "naughty" on one side and "nice" on the other) one among a huge collection of headbands i wear for various holidays.
my customers have been known to come in specifically to see what i was wearing for the holiday, OR what color my hair color change was for the month (it changes the first of the month, currently is bright orange for my niece whose bday was the 11th, and her fave color is orange)
i have been told many times thru my 4 years at the store that i have made someones day, and each time i hear it, it pushes me on to try to do the same for another person another day.
(i've also been told that i'm always in a good mood, and that it's a rare thing in a grocery store to see a happy checker...better yet, is knowing me and my moodiness...? me? always in a good mood? lol.yep, at work i am, cuz they pay me to be in a good mood. ok, not always but 99% )
ok, i've taken enough space up writing about b.
sorry.
but i know what you mean about happy in their job ppl. i am, so i recognize it in others, and appreciate it more because of it.

be well
and thanks for posting this...

~b, I adored reading these things about you and thank you for sharing. Wow, you run the full range from organic produce to organic chemistry! You made our day with this story. I have always had this thing for women's hairbands, their hair and hair accessories in general but especially for hairbands! If they had something along those lines in the fetish checklist, I'd check A LOT!

Poetess, I so agree with you that it shows up in surprising places if you look for it and makes the world a much brighter place!

silence, it seems the medical profession has both people like you who are totally dedicated and love their work or the others you described in abundance and I get the sense there's not much in between. I don't even want someone who gets pissed about missing their movie working on my bike let alone my body!

I know your job entails grueling hours and I tip my hat to you for pursuing a most nobel profession with such enthusiasm and passion!

You're so right silence. Many people tend to take people like Pedro for granted and I think it reflects poorly on them. I see so many people going through the motions and doing just enough to get by in their work but then I see others who I instantly notice love and take pride in what they do. It's so important to recognize this value in others!
