Unsolved Mystery - The Case of the Missing Sock

The weather here was amazing this weekend!

While home this evening, I cooked and did some laundry when I discovered a hole in Lavoisier’s Law of the Conservation of Matter which says in a closed system matter cannot be created or destroyed. The case of the missing sock is proof that matter can simply vanish without a trace and my second conclusion was Lavoisier must’ve never done laundry, either that or he never wore socks.

and why is it that ya never lose both socks in the pair?
why is it ALWAYS one of a pair?

or...do pairs go missing and i don't realize it cuz i don't count the number of socks i put in the dryer?

hmmmmm...

*whispering* 6.023 x 10 to the 23rd power. I was about to call you to form a scientific research team in order to explain this disorder! It's enough to drive me hopping mad! LOL

You ask the great question. Why is it just one? This may have been the inspiration for quantum mechanics and the highly mathematical string theory!

I have one solution. They should sell socks in odd number quantities!

And then there is the Veronica/Elizabeth Theory of Home Made Cookies which postulates, if you wear the same style and color socks, you will never miss three random socks.

    Quoting  :

Lhiannon, so you're saying the washing machines are responsible? I was wondering if there may be a wave of sock fetishists prowling our streets undercover! LOL

I've never understood the inequality of the hot dog to bun ratio but buns freeze well so I've not embarked on any plans to resolve this issue at the corporate level.

b, we're all trying to understand this chemistry thing as it's the greater and far more interesting of the two great mysteries of the universe!

Lady Ahasuerus, I've been following that theory as I keep my colors and styles to a minimum but still find it odd that a sock could completely vanish into thin air so I'm attempting to lose another sock to keep things balanced!

When it comes to cookies, I can easily make large quantities of them disappear before your very eyes!

How did you know? See, I use two socks to stand out from the competition so that still doesn't solve my mystery unless it went down the drain! You are good!
