So another chapter comes about in the ongoing saga that is Alt. We had a paid Gold membership for a number of years early on with our first account and then this one as we renamed our profile to be online with what we are looking for, when the system started going a little screwy we held off on paying. Because of all the hits our profile had with our pictures, videos and blog post we received a free gold membership for a number of years though it was getting harder to meet people on here the way the site was. That option eventually went away and because the system had been getting even worse we decided again not to pay for the gold membership. A few days later we received an Icebreaker request for a free gold membership. We didn’t do anything for a few days and finally filled it out and accepted the Icebreaker and once again we received gold membership. In the past year we might have received 5 messages that said they were from the Icebreaker from people who were no way compatible with our cupid matches so nothing was done. We had one female sub that came about and seemed like they would be great to play with when we traveled to their area, but low and behold when it came time for the voice verification she(?) too vanished. Not from Alt but in responding to us. Amazing how something so simple clears out the fakes and time wasters. There were quite a few others we tried to contact but either they never responded or their profile suddenly went "off-line". So the year is up and the Icebreaker has closed, so now back to being a regular member, which means no IM (though it seldom, if ever works), no messages, can’t chat on video let alone watch cams because no one is out there, etc, etc. You know the drill. When we used to be able to cam we easily had over 300 people watching the session, which made it even better. Now most times the cam won’t even load. It’s funny, as since our Icebreaker ended late last week, we have received at least 10 messages, only 2 have a common interest, but have found out that we can't reply to them unless we pay for a subscription, so no wonder we didn't get a huge response. Even the blogs have gone to hell. Too many have decided that this is now a political place to complain that any decent BDSM posts get pushed off the main page. I come to a BDSM place to talk about my kink and not my political platform. When a post is done there is very little response compared to when BDSM was the main topic. Not to mentioned how you can't put your post in the main message as alt mysteriously takes words out of posts. Granted with the COVID shutdown there is little kink but it just doesn’t seem worth it to write about the BDSM things we enjoy when it goes on deaf ears as no one is able to read it. And yes, I know that this is not a BDSM post but a rant of how bad things came about, I think I’m entitled to it. LOL. It doesn’t appear that the Icebreaker is an option anymore but we will hold off and see if it comes back as we really can’t see paying for anything on here with the current business model. If the cams and IM worked properly (like letting people chat) and Alt did a better job of getting rid of the fakes and bots we would be more encouraged to pay for a subscription. The way it is now there is no way as it would be a complete waste of money. It’s very sad as the company seems to have a much better business model on their sister site Alternative Lifestyle Singles which you would think it would be easy to just move over to fix things here. We did buy a 3 month subscription for someone that we didn’t wind up giving so we always have that option to use and to get rid of before closing things down. Ms. Jay bleash;

I fully agree with what you have written. I was a gold member for many years. felt is was going backwards. Went to basic membership, and this year, on a whim, took out a gold membership again. It is obvious that the owners have decided that bots, webgirls etc. is what is important to them. The functionality of the site has greatly diminished; like you mentioned. Good luck.

You'll always have a following.. Hopefully you'll stay as a free member.. I wonder: If we all started a gofundme campaign for the purpose of buying the site, A) how much could we raise and  how much would they sell the site for.. I can think of 10 people that holding ONE business model meeting could make this a pretty interesting investment..

Well, you know I would certainly hate to see you go, even if I don't get to play with you anymore (but would in a heartbeat if I was back in SoCal!) Yes, the site has gone downhill. I don't know why this site has been so slow to implement new features that exist on the other friendfinder sites. I know they're making money, so why restrict what used to be free/limited, break what was working, and then allow all the BS accounts that drive real people away? I, too, dropped my Gold recently. I hope you're doing well and enjoying what you still can in CA!

Just noticed that the site has changed any reference to A F F to alt. So keep that in mind. Ms. Jay bleash;

Same here. been a member for 19+ years. were paid members then like you became free members via ice breakers. this used to be a great site. very active. it has gone down hill so bad that now that ice breakers are gone we just don't visit much. we use fetlife now and after you get used to it it is a much better site.
