Root Canal... See Comments. Words don't vanish there. Make Women Female Again |

That's right peanut gallery .... We're headed to the dentist this afternoon at 1400 hours MDT for a root canal and a temporary crown. Does that make anyone's pucker cord pucker a little? I had my first ever root canal about five years ago. Prior to that, I'd only heard other people talk about having them, and the way everyone ... and I do mean everyone ... talked about it, I thought it was going to be akin to being skinned alive or something. Pain, pain and more pain! After it was over, I was like "That's it??????" To me, it was nothing more than having a cavity. I've had a couple more since then and it's the same - No biggie. I asked the dental assistant why I had heard nothing but horror stories from others about root canals and she indicated that a lot of people wait too long to have a needed one done and it can become very involved and cause problems. I guess that made sense. My teeth that were done never hurt on the front end and the need for a root canal was found via x-rays. Today's tooth feels perfectly normal. In any event, in I go this afternoon. A few trips ago, I took the front office staff, my hygienist and the dental assistant a piece of my world class cheesecake. They are now addicted and with every trip I take them cheesecake. I tease them that no wonder it's determined I need dental work - They simply want more cheesecake! A thought did occur to me though .... I've never taken the dentist that will be doing my root canal a piece. Probably not good strategy to take everyone a piece but him, is it? Today, he will become addicted too. [image] Make Women Female Again

Choosing the right endodontist is important. Mine is beautiful. After a half dozen root canals I don't love them, but I really look forward to an hour staring at her eyes.

Yeah, I've had plenty of root canals...it just takes a while for them to get it done. I usually get a prescription for painkillers & antibiotics afterward...spend the rest of the day on the couch, just vegging out.

More power to you. I had a root canal about ten days after major surgery. Knocked the hell out of me. Lost 15 pounds after having just lost 17 from the surgery. Endodontist said it was one of the most difficult root canals he had ever done. He says the one he's going to do on me Friday may be even more difficult. Narrow, bent root apparently. I expect to be on a Lagavulin diet for a while.

Like you I've had a couple of root-canals & haven't had any problems with them. But if my Dentist gets a chisel out like that - I'm off. I've had three of my wisdom teeth out, the last one, lower right is laying on it's side. My dentist said, "if that one plays up, you'll be going to hospital. There's a facial nerve right next to where it's laying. If they damage that you could end up with a numb face for life. Like you've had Novocain." Great. So I'm just hoping I don't get any problem with it.
