We all played that card game as children - Did we not peanut gallery?

Go Fish, War and Old Maid are probably the three most common card games for whipper snappers. We progress from there.

Speaking of going fishing, do we have many fishermen here? (Do I have to also say fisherwomen or is fishermen gender neutral?) I used to fish as a kid, but never became 'avid' about it.

When I did fish more, I was NEVER one to sit on the bank, in a boat or otherwise remain stationary. I ONLY stream fish where one goes from hole to hole, jumping rock to rock, getting your feet wet, getting a bruise or two. Give me a challenge! So would this be considered 'ice fishing' ya suppose?

Fishing to me was always just drinking beer.

An indication of just how good I was at it.

Too hard to tote around beer when you're jumping from rock to rock, wading across the stream/river, falling down, etc.

Afterwards? Bring on the brews!!

I used to fish a lot, not as much anymore. I've spent plenty of time fishing from boats, off shores and wading. I always enjoyed it regardless of my success. Alone, or with friends, and a few beers never hurt.

I get too bored sitting still just waiting for a fish to swim by and see my bait. I'm moving as much as I'm fishing.

If there's a fish in a hole, he's gonna grab your bait right off. Not getting a bite? Move on.

I fish quite often and I think the term fisherman is just fine. Lots of nice Snook, Jack and Mangrove snapper to be found in these parts.

Plzrmeister replies on 11/4/2021 11:09 am:
Yeah, but do you jump rocks!

I fish the 'Little Salmon' River and the main catch is rainbow trout. At certain times of the year, there are Salmon available too as they return to the hatchery located not too far from the River of No Return (Salmon River).

They are looking for the palm tree that was on their island before the island started melting. Everyone knows beer grows on trees.

As good an explanation as any, I suppose.

Yeah, who knew?

If I was just sitting and waiting I agree it would be boring. I never went out in a boat and did not move around. Most bodies of water have different fish and different techniques, baits, depth etc. Fish also move around so I agree if a spot is not working you might need to move.
Or maybe I just like slowly torturing worms.

Plzrmeister replies on 11/4/2021 1:26 pm:
I get your drift and I can appreciate that sort of fishing ... I just gotta be moving about on terra firma ...

Nothing wrong with drowning worms ... or grasshoppers.

Fishing is cool if I have someone to do all the yucky stuff like bait my hook for me- and tend to any fish I manage to stumble into catching....

Plzrmeister replies on 11/5/2021 5:00 am:
Well .... good luck finding someone to do that stuff for you.

I suppose you could just use a lure of some sort ... No bait to touch!

I can almost envision your doing some topless fishing.
It's a nice vision too!

I can envision you playing Go Fish topless .... or any other activity.

I'm being to think I had a deprived childhood!
I can remember the name 'old maid,' although I can't think how to play it.
But I've never heard of 'go fish' or 'war.'

I had a workmate who said fishing was nice & relaxing, sitting on the bank
in the sun. I'm sure it is, I just don't get why you need to drag all that equipment
with you.

Plzrmeister replies on 11/5/2021 5:09 am:
I might have to agree with that deprived childhood part .. No 'Go Fish' or 'War'? Probably qualifies as child abuse.

Yet another reason I don't care for sedentary fishing..
When I'm jumping rocks, etc. everything I need is in a flat fishing pouch strung over my shoulder. All the extra tackle you need, bait and a place for the fish you catch.
