Don't ya just love it when someone knocks on your door or rings your doorbell to do some form of solicitation?

Yeah, there's nothing I enjoy more .... Especially with my "No Solicitation" sign on the door.

It takes a lot of balls to ignore the sign and knock/ring. You'd think people would have better sense. I think the person who solicited this lady might learn a lesson or two.

Ya never know .... They might think they hit the jackpot and go back over and over.

Plzr,

In 2020 I did a part-time gig helping with the Census, door to door.

So glad that wasn't on my route.

Census ain't solicitation so I woulda ignored your sign.

Yeah, you're right - a census isn't a solicitation so I could have lived with that knock on the door. By the way, two people live here ......

Even when it is an official 'solicitor' ( that apparently can't read ), I'm not rude about it, but the conversation is as short as possible. "He's on vacation and I'm just just house sitting. I live in Oregon."

Something along the same line when we go to the State Fair and walk through the pavilion. "Are you interested in subscribing to the Idaho Statesman? .... "No, we're from out of state."

This tactic always ends the conversations quickly without the need for rudeness. A white lie I can live with.

I recently had one pair of solicitors ring the bell and then, when there was no answer, try the door knob to see if the door was open. They left a leaflet.

Did we forget to mention we have the door knob hooked up to an electrical outlet?

Touch it at your own peril ....

I remember that one solicitor who knocked on the door after trying the door knob. Didn't they ask if we had any toilet paper they could use?

That's right .... I think touching the door knob resulted in soiled underwear.

I am so glad I live in a gated community......they cant get in even if they're walking. I'm one that when the phone rings with an unknown number, I answer.....don't speak for about 5 seconds......then i hang up. I'm not getting my voice on one of those AI messages

Plzrmeister replies on 9/28/2023 8:10 am:
I have my phone set to "Do Not Disturb". As such, my phone will only ring if the caller is on my contact list. I figure if an unknown caller really needs to get ahold of me, they'll leave a message.

I do the same thing. Phone solicitations are now a thing of the past .... Well, unless they leave a message. Those are easy to delete after about the first three words out of their mouth.

Remember those old Alka Seltzer commercials? The 'Try it, you'll like it" variety?

Having phone on 'Do Not Disturb' ...... Try it, you'll like it!
