We've all had it happen, haven't we? We're right in the middle of something .... It can be just about anything we're intently into and all of a sudden there's a knock on the door or the doorbell rings. You have a FU*K!!!! moment because the last thing you want to do is having to stop what you're doing and answer the door.

You're thinking, "It can't be that important - Probably just UPS, Amazon or the FedEx guy leaving something at the door"" so you just ignore it. Then there's a second knock or the doorbell rings again ........ FU*K!!!!

Now things switch to the important column ... Nobody knocks or rings twice if it's not important do they? Now you're thinking it's got to be family or a neighbor and "This better be freaking important!!!"

So you stop doing what you'd rather not stop doing and answer the door. If it's a solicitor who's ignored the "No Soliciting" sign on the door, they might get strangled. If it's a neighbor, they better want more than a stick of butter and if it's family, you tolerate dropping by unannounced. Who was it the last time this happened to you?

Quite often, if I hear the doorbell ring, I ignore it - nine times out of ten, it's a door-to-door salesman.

Might a 'NO SOLICITING' notice on the door help? Sometimes I know it gets ignored, but it ought to cut down on the frequency.

Having the sign gives you the ability to give them the "Are you shi*ting me???" look.

I live in an apartment, but I'm harassed by unwelcome phone calls every day.

I have my cell phone set to 'Do Not Disturb' .... As such, it won't ring unless the caller is on my contacts list.

Of course even contacts can be annoying.......

All I can say is thank goodness both my cell and home phone block those scam calls!

I got rid of mine years ago ... One phone bill is quite sufficient. Good thing they can block scam calls .....

Have become VERY accustomed to IGNORING both, unsolicited knocks at the door and the FLOOD of phone calls ("You NEED coverage for your out of warranty car and we've got JUST THE PLAN for you!")! Thank goodness for 'NO-MO-ROBO' the free service that ELIMINATED the phone NONSENSE!

'NO-MO-ROBO' ...... I've never heard of it. I suspect it accomplished the same thing as 'Do Not Disturb' does on a cell phone. You may have provided a Public Service Announcement for people.

Just as long as the phone doesn't ring for someone not a contact. Nothing precludes non- contacts from leaving a message..... Grrrrrr

It's funny but usually when I hear a knock on my door it is someone I want to see. But that is probably due to my current location, too.

Yes, I'm sure location has a lot to do with it. The door to door types like to go where houses are dense. Takes less effort.

I'm sure when you hear a knock, it's probably your 'sexy man' coming for a 'visit'.

LOL we live in the boonies, plus 2 big dogs. Most people won't get to our door.
