Wisdom .... Probably means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. Each of you probably wish you had more in certain areas and I'm sure you know people you wish had more. Some might consider it the difference between 'book smarts and street smarts'. That's probably not a terrible definition.

I have no doubt numerous people on here will need to chime in and let us know exactly what it is. I have enough 'wisdom' to know that ole 'Everyone has an opinion ......' saying. I hope we can all agree it's something we accumulate each day as the years pass ... Some we obtain from others and some we obtain from the school of hard knocks.

Remember when we were young and in the 'know it all' phase of life? People with some hard earned wisdom might have given us some advice and we were like, "Yeah - Right" .... and then go and fu*k up because we didn't listen? I bet many of us have experienced that "They were right, I should have listened".

Yeah ... a part of wisdom is being smart enough to now you actually don't know it all. One might even say there are a few people around here that could use more of that type of wisdom. If one actually did say that, you could start a pissing contest .... and there's already enough of them going on. OK peanut gallery .... Let's hear your 'take' on and experience with Wisdom.

Wisdom reminds me of the three wise men that brought gifts to the baby Jesus. I always wondered what the nature of their wisdom was. Why were they called "wise" men?

Plzrmeister replies on 1/21/2024 5:42 am:
Three wise men as well as 'kings' .... "We three kings of orient are....."

Perhaps because they were wise enough to know the savior had been born? I'm sure one of our 'wise men' on here will educate us on this subject.

he doesn't know me...

"I know nothing."

Sounds like Sgt Shultz.

Who knew he was a genius!

I have known some very, very smart people with no common sense. I do, however, see a difference between smart and having wisdom. I believe wisdom comes from experience.

Plzrmeister replies on 1/21/2024 9:49 am:
Yes, there's a vast difference between being smart and having common sense.

Common sense and wisdom would seem to be the ultimate combination, wouldn't it?

that cartoon should be required reading!

Plzrmeister replies on 1/21/2024 8:04 am:
It'd make a good bumper sticker too.

That would really help to spread the word!

The school of hard knocks usually leaves a lasting impression.

When it hits home there's no denying it.

Plzrmeister replies on 1/21/2024 9:53 am:
Yeah, that particular school always leaves lasting impressions. Learning something the hard way has a way of humbling a person.

Sometimes a person's light bulb turns on with just the switch ... Some of the time their light bulb has to be screwed in a little more to make contact.

Frame it and hang it on a wall you face upon awakening each day.

Plzrmeister replies on 1/21/2024 9:55 am:
Or tape it to the bathroom mirror.

Naw ... It'd look better in a frame.

"Food for thought: Book-smart people…create the world… and street-smart people…are the ones who survive in it." – RS Peterson

"Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

Plzrmeister replies on 1/22/2024 4:22 am:
That pretty much puts it in a nutshell and ties it up with a pretty little bow.

A statement derived of wisdom ....
