No, we're not talking about matches between people a la 'A Match Made in Heaven'. We're talking about an actual pack of matches that produce fire. For the younger crowd on here, I can almost hear some ""WTF is a pack of matches?" For the not so young crowd, you know of what I speak, don't you? They used to be everywhere and given away for free .... some were generic in nature and some had some advertising on the cover. Slowly but surely, they seem to have disappeared from society and were replaced by the Bic or other form of disposable lighter. Wooden matches still abound though..... I know they're sold in grocery stores. They too might slowly but surely disappear. Come to think of it, I have some in the upstairs bathroom for lighting candles, but I have one of the elongated disposable lighters downstairs for candles, incense and for lighting the outdoor grill. When was the last time any of you saw a pack of matches? Personally, I have no idea when that occasion was for me .... until I saw this meme. How would you like to have someone slip you this particular pack? Sort of eliminates the up front small talk, doesn't it? [image] Make Women Female Again

Someone told me the casinos still give out books of matches...

I had a big collection of match books I'd picked up from casinos in Vegas. I think I still have a few Ceasars Palace books but wouldn't count on them to light ever again.

Around 2008 began the banning of smoking in public buildings an in 2010 the FDA banned cigarette vending machines. That began the decline of matchbooks. Businesses stop using them for advertising when smoking became out-of-fashion. Go ahead, ask your grand kids whats a matchbook??

About 20 years ago I patronized Sherri's Ranch which is about 45 minutes outside of Las Vegas in Nye County. A 5-star establishment, by the way. Upon leaving I pocketed a bunch of their matches. On the cover was their logo which matched their entrance sign but upon opening the book on the inner flap was a map of directions from Vegas to the joint. Nice marketing and a hell of a product.
