OK peanut gallery ... Raise your hand if you enjoy going to a buffet. Myself? Yeah - I can get into a good buffet. There is a good Chinese one near here as well as a Golden Corral, which I could almost throw a rock and hit. I go to the 'Corral' for both breakfast and an early ( discounted ) dinner some of the time. I'll actually be going to the 'Corral' a little later this morning for breakfast ... It sort of qualifies as a 'given' on Saturday mornings. You can see my hand raised - Right? I enjoy a buffet and the wide selection of foods to choose from. If I had to pick my favorite, it would be Chinese. There's one thing I've noticed though .... As I get older, the less and less it takes to fill me up. The 'All You Can Eat' aspect to a buffet is beginning to have diminishing returns for me and my money. I hear ya .... I'm in the same boat. I see some people eat several plates mounted with food and wonder where the hell they're putting it. I also see some people that can barely waddle around from being so incredibly obese and think .... "Maybe you ought to cut down just a little". OK - I know, I know ..... "So judgmental". So shoot me. I have a general rule for myself at a buffet .... If I put it on my plate, I have to eat it. I think I got that from living with my paternal grandmother for a year during high school. She was the family matriarch and had raised three boys during the Depression .... I either cleaned my plate or there was no dessert ..... Period - End of Story ..... and she always had dessert. I see people get up and leave buffets while there is still mounds of food on their plate and always think "No dessert for you!" I also think WTF did you take it for if you didn't plan on eating it? I know, I know ..... That judgmental thing again. Make Women Female Again

Like you, about the only buffets near me are a Golden Corral and a Chinese place. Both are about 7 miles from me, but I'm not sure if the Chinese place survived the pandemic. And like you, the older I get, the less it takes to get filled up. I've found, over the years, that the Chinese buffets tend to have a whole section of "American" food - pizza, french fries, meatloaf, etc. Sort of takes away from the "Chinese food" thing.

I'm not a buffet kind of person......I like the being waited on experience Those churrasco restaurants can bring on the meat sweats but oh, so good.

The trick is to start out with multiple desserts, like in the photo.
