Wait a minute .... You calling me 'old'? Couldn't I just be a matured dog instead? I can relate to this guy trying to keep up with technology - It has blown past me and left me in the dust. To a certain extent, I'm glad it has .... Otherwise I'd have to have my nose stuck in a cell phone almost every breathing hour to fit in with everyone else.

Yeah .... I think we firmly fit into the 'matured' category. You can relate to this guy .... What - You got a floppy disc too? I hear you on keeping up with technology - I don't even try, or I don't try very hard. Take my cell phone, for example. It probably does hundreds of things that I don't even know or think about. I'm one who actually uses it as a phone and not an entertainment center. I know - So shoot me.

I know what you mean .... I use it as a phone and I text some as well as take photos to keep and/or send to others. I do confess I watch 'YTube' on it some too. That's about as sophisticated as it gets for me. I have never yet found the need to have it in front of my nose as I'm walking down the sidewalk or while in my car. When in my car, my focus is on something weird ... Like 'paying attention to the road'.

Paying attention to the road??? Sheesh - You are old! Actually I hear you. When I'm walking the dogs, we go by several intersections with stop lights and I always like to look over at the stopped cars to see how many people have their nose in their phone while they're waiting. It's always a large percentage. Makes me crazy when I'm behind someone who can't be expected to pay attention to when the liight turns green.

I've seen people weaving in traffic......no they aren't drunk, just texting someone! C'mon people!

I suppose it keeps your mind sharp.

As long as you have the aptitude for it ......

Even on the bike, i can see, at their behaviour, that they are on their Iphone, or what ever the name is.
I always want to pass them by and shout; Booh!
Or push them, out of the way....

So they get out of their phone idiocracy, single mindedness.
They are a danger to others, in trafic.

I think, they will attack me, when i do that!

Being on your Iphone, the whole long day, long, seem to be more important, than the safety on the street!

Maybe it is an generation thing.......?
Where is my floppy disk!!

Plzrmeister replies on 2/14/2024 7:57 am:
It's more than a generational thing .... I've seen LOTS of matured people having a meal together and their noses are in cell phones rather than talking .... Say what?

Good luck with that floppy disk!

Plzr,

Do you remember the first mobile phones? They were those giant bag phones with cords and receivers similar to landlines.
Then came the bulky walk-around brick phones, followed by the flip phones that took the world by storm.
But it wasn't until the mid-1990s when the Motorola StarTak came out and revolutionized the game, fitting perfectly in the watch pocket of your jeans. With the advent of such a convenient device, more and more people started using them for walking, talking, as well as driving.
I, for one, loved my StarTac. However, that flimsy antenna you pulled out, not so much, and I had to replace it on the first one I got.

Early on, when these phones were still not very commonly seen a vivid memory of mine is how often, when seeing someone with a mobile phone, you'd hear people say, "Who's he talking to, the President?"

I remember it from a speech balloon in the Sunday cartoons and it spread quickly from there.

Yeah, they were certainly 'unique' back in the day. I'm really surprised the flip open phones are being marketed again .... Back to the future I guess.

I remember the old Dick Tracy cartoons where he had a phone wristwatch. Way ahead of its time! One can only imagine what the future holds.....

Men have A floppy......women two......

Plzrmeister replies on 2/14/2024 10:58 am:
That makes a certain amount of sense .....

That's why the Germans call a bra .... 'Stoppen-Z-Flop'.
