Gawd ..... I haven't been to a movie in many many moons. I used to go to them frequently, but that has tapered off over the years and I'm not sure why. My best guess would be that I'm not interested in the types of movies being put out ( Example: Barbie ) combined with all that's readily available on TV. When I read about the movies, actors, etc. being nominated for academy awards each year, I'm in the "meh" crowd .... Hollywood has lost me.

You and me both! I've never been into the super hero stuff, nor anything outer spacy or fantasy ...... That cuts out a lot of the movies produced. I like a good murder mystery as well as a well done romantic comedy. A good action or war movie will grab my attention too ..... Caveat: The action movies need to have some semblance of reality to them, whci cuts out many of them .... Mission Impossible? Not even.. Equalizers? Hell yeah!

When I do go to a movie a bucket of popcorn and a soda pop are SOP. If memory serves - quiet! - That's in the $20 category. I've often though the movie theatre would be wise to open the doors and let people in for free because they make their money at the concession stand. The price of admission seems a small portion of what you actually spend going to a movie.

The movie theatre I go to lets you butter your own popcorn and I am a highly trained professional at that. If you're behind me in the buttering line, you better have packed a lunch because I'm gonna be a while. I even bring one of those plastic grocery bags with me to put the bucket in when it's sitting in my lap to account for the inevitable leakage. Talking about this is making me hungry .... Maybe it''s time to head to the theatre soon!

I have taken to popping popcorn on the stove in a pan with bacon grease and butter. It is really good. It's how my Mom used to make it though she used a popcorn popper that had belonged to her Dad.

Bacon grease & butter? Are you able to feel your arteries clog up as you're eating it?

You be nice.... People can still afford to buy bacon these days???

It's been so long for me, I couldn't even tell you what movie it was.

Longhorn - That's where I go here when I want a steak. I was there for Valentine's Day ..... Yum!

I like a lot of different movies. The movie theatre, not so much. I'm quite comfortable at home.
I have a 65" Sony OLED with Surround Sound but what is most important is a pause button and a bathroom nearby.

Some of these movies these days are over 3 hrs long!

Yeah .... It's a bummer to have to pee during a movie in a theatre. You never know what you're going to miss ....

I haven't even watched a movie at home for a while .... I think the last one at home was 'The Accountant'. I really like that movie!

That's in the 'Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio?' category. A by-gone era .....

I remember them well. A soda pop and a bucket of popcorn didn't cost $20+ either....

I haven't been to the movies for a while. Many things come into consideration... price, selection, who may be available to go with, and is the movie worth sitting still for that long? Not in any particular order.

I admit that I have been known to go to the movies with a certain boy and randomly tease in the darkness while I was enjoying the movie.

And if you took one of your subjects with you, you could go find a seat while they hit the concession stand for your favorite snacks.

i've grown so accustomed to having everything just as i like it as i watch my tv from the couch. and no annoying people talking while the movie is playing!

Or the annoying people who just can't understand theatres and scrolling/texting on cell phones do not go together....

Being on one's 'home turf' certainly has its benefits .... I like to get out of the house too though and treat myself.

There's a charming and cozy movie theater that I frequently visit, which I adore for its monthly screenings of beloved classic movies. I recently enjoyed watching The Big Lebowski on the big screen in this theater with my son, and it was an unforgettable experience.

Over the last few years, the theater has undergone some significant renovations, completely transforming the space into a state-of-the-art movie-watching destination. One of the most significant additions is the installation of automatic recliners that are incredibly comfortable. I find myself sinking into the plush cushions and feeling completely relaxed within minutes of sitting down.

These chairs are so comfortable that I now tend to doze off within the first ten minutes of any movie I see there. Despite that, I still enjoy going to the theater because of its inviting atmosphere and the unique experience it offers.

Finally, the exorbitant prices of snacks leave much to be desired. As a result, I opted to purchase a soda from the concession stand while clandestinely bringing in candy that I bought elsewhere.

Great topic!

You snuck candy into the movie theatre? You deserve a spanking young lady! It would be interesting to know how many people do the same thing, given the prices at the concession stand. I'm betting you're not alone by any stretch of the imagination.

The theatre you speak of sounds amazing ... particularly the recliners. There is a small theatre here in Boise that sounds very similar to the one you describe .... Unique movies and a unique atmosphere. I have yet to make an appearance there - Perhaps your comments will motivate me.
