 It's funny how the brain works and how it can be tricked, isn't it? As with you, I had to go back to look for the second 'the' and sure enough - There it is. I'd wager there are very few, if any, people who read the meme and said, "Hey, they put the word 'the' in there twice."

I bet there were zero people who did. I'm sure there are brain 'experts' who can explain how the brain passes over back to back words without noticing them - We should do that in this blog somewhere and see if people notice. OK peanut gallery .... The seed has been planted in your brain now and I know you're going to go over this blog with a fine toothed comb trying to locate the double word.

I also learned somehwere that the brain can read a word - even if it's spelled incorrectly - if all the letters are there and the first and last letter are in the correct position. Your brain sort of acts like 'spell check', if you even notice it at all. Then there's optical illusions .... They can really f*ck with one's brain.

Gawd .... We're gonna have people looking all over this blog to find where we've been f*cking with their brains! I wonder if we could sneak in an optical illusion somewhere in here too. OK - I need another cup of coffee .... My brain isn't totally awake yet.

 It's nice that the brain can sift through and throw out the shit.

But it's like we depend on something we don't know about or how it operates.

Perhaps that's why we still step in shit from time to time.
