I'm betting we all do it some of the time .... Some to greater or lesser degrees than others. We compare what we have, who we are or what we have achieved compared to others .... be they siblings, friends, acquaintances or others out there in that big wide world.. Yeah, for some it can be a fleeting thought while for others an obsession to dwell on such things and either grind their teeth in envy or beat their chest thinking how much they tower above others. It's really an exercise in futility one way of the other, isn't it? How many gazillion blogs have we all seen talking about being happy in your own skin? This type of discussion always makes me think of the 'Rich and Famous' people ..... Side bar - Remember that TV show? ..... How many of the so called rich and famous people wind up committing suicide? On the outside they seem to have the world by the tail, yet on the inside, demons are slowly but surely devouring them. Money and fame aren't all they're cracked up to be a lot of the time. I hear you dude. Regardless of your so called stage in life, people are just people and we all have to deal with real life on a daily basis - Duh! I'm who I am and I'm where I'm at in life and I'm good with it. There is a lot to be said for contentment. If there's more I want in life, I don't wish for it ... I make plans on how to achieve it. Make Women Female Again

I used to like watching Robin Leach but I'm happy in my little slice of paradise!

Comparisons are judgments . . . Social comparisons are not only ubiquitous but also represent a naturally occurring example of more general evaluative judgments.

This reminds me of that oft-mentioned refrain that "the grass is always greener on the other side" that has frustrated humanity for a long time. I would hope we all can agree that grass is greener when properly fertilized and watered. Instead of constantly wishing for different circumstances, it might be better for one to focus on cultivating one's own paradise, whether landscaping or mindscaping. imho

I have been in situations where i was with the rich and famous, of that city, once. Houses all over Europe, and more... I found out, they had nothing to offer me, as a person.... Most of the time i found them lacking of some inner moral code, to live by... And some basic feeling of being happy, with who you/they are... I was never envious of other peoples belonging, the more you have, the more you seem to have to guide it againsts..... Others wanting a piece of your action...? They dont share, they guide their belongings feriously....
