The concept of what a person's identity is sort of escapes me. I suppose I'm sort of lucky, as I grew up in a time where there were merely men & women ... boys and girls ... males and females. It was pretty simple as compared to the buffet of identities going on today. Let's put in a caveat here .... YES, people are free to identify however they want to. It's their life and whatever makes them feel comfortable in their own skin is fine with me. There ..... Nobody needs to get all butt hurt now ..... Theoretically, at least. What if a person identifies as 'Perpetually Butt Hurt' ... Then what??  There used to be a premise that "Whatever happens in the bedroom between two people was their business and nobody else's." I thought that made a lot of sense and worked pretty well. Perhaps I'm wrong, but it seems it's drifting toward "I'm making what happens in my bedroom everyone's business". Perhaps that's a bit of a stretch, but you readers know what I mean. The world turns and the world changes .... and the pendulum swings both directions until it finds an equilibrium. I bet the majority of the people on here are discreet about their sexual proclivities and their sex life .... "What happens in my bedroom - stays in my bedroom". Here's how much this new 'identity' conversation has my head spinning ..... Does one have both an identity as well as a gender, or are they one in the same thing?  I'm a heterosexual male. It's not how I 'identify', it's just who I am. The term and concept of 'identifying' escapes me ... It's just seems so 'trendy' and I have no use for it at all. Is it appropriate to identify as loving pumpkin pie? I also identify as a Yankees and Notre Dame fan. Dayum, I could go on all day identifying. In how many areas of life does a person identify? These days, I identify as a number. I've been treated as such for most of my life.

I just can't keep up with all the changes. I think the worst part of all the identity listers is that most then think you have to bow down to their preference......what happened to live and let live.

Another vote for live and let live. I don't give this topic any thought. Christ, I'm 73, and I have no time to even google what they are getting on about.
