As a kid, I fondly remember watching cartoons every Saturday morning. Although I loved them all, perhaps the one I remember most fondly was Rocky & Bullwinkle. Besides the stars of the show, there was also Dudley Do-Right, Nell Fenwick, Snidely Whiplash, Boris Badenov, Natasha Fatale and others to watch and follow. I remember Snidely was always tying up Nell on railroad tracks and Dudley would come to the rescue.

Don't forget about Mr. Peabody & Sherman in that cast of characters. Ah the good old days. I remember there were also cartoons after school too like Huckleberry Hound, Deputy Dawg and Quick Draw McGraw - Not to mention Yogi & Boo Boo. It seemed to me that the cartoons we loved morphed over time into cartoons I don't even recognize.

Yeah ... Time marches on and everything changes. Oh well, what ya gonna do? I've read here and there that some people got their interest in BDSM from cartoons of one sort or another or from seemingly harmless TV shows where people were getting tied up, gagged, etc. Nothing I ever saw as a child or youngster triggered those emotion in me, but I can see where it could happen.

Yeah ... Young minds are very absorptive and take in and store all sorts of things. A mind is a terrible thing to waste - Right? Some of us could have watched the cartoon in the meme and thought nothing of it ... Others watched it and thought "I want to do that to Sally" or ""I wish Billy would do that to me". By the way, does that look like a meme from Scooby-Doo?

After reading your post, I couldn't help but agree that there was so much to like about cartoons when we were kids. I started to think about the cartoons that I disliked back then, but I couldn't recall any. I was like a sponge when it came to cartoons during my childhood days - I absorbed them all.

Can you recall any you disliked?

BDSM?? Snidley Whiplash showed me no redeeming qualities way back then.

Plzrmeister replies on 4/27/2024 10:56 am:
No, I can't think of any I didn't like. I could go on and on listing the shows I remember .... Chip & Dale, Heckle & Jeckle, Underdog and on and on and on.

None that I disliked to my recollection. I always thought Snidely Whiplash had the best name possible for a villain. Whomever thought that one up deserves a prize.

Lol, why?

Nothing Acme produced worked.

Plzrmeister replies on 4/27/2024 10:59 am:
I think the ACME products worked OK. Wile E. Coyote wasn't too bright or effective when utilizing them.

Uh - No. Wile E.. could fu*k up a wet dream.

Ginger.

I remember watching Saturday morning cartoons - it seemed it was heavy with Bugs Bunny stuff. Unfortunately, around the time I entered 5th grade, the cartoons took a turn for the worse - the H.R. Puff-n-stuff style cartoons seemed to be taking over, and they weren't hilarious at all. But Fat Albert was pretty good.

Remember the cartoon Hot Wheels? There was also a cartoon that came on around noontime, but wasn't on TV regularly. The theme song went "George, George, George of the jungle, watch out for that tree!"

Believe it or not, watching those Saturday morning cartoons, I learned so much classical music!

I wasn't a fan of Scooby Doo, but Thelma could be hot in her own way.

Plzrmeister replies on 4/28/2024 5:12 am:
I never watched nor do I remember 'Hot Wheels' .... A cartoon such as that would not be my cup of tea.

I do remember 'George of the Jungle' and the song you reference. I had a friend in high school named George .... Can you imagine the grief he got?

A lady friend of mine says she was influenced by the bondage scenes in shows like Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.

I had no TV as a child, so I was "awakened up" by books.

Plzrmeister replies on 4/28/2024 7:22 am:
Yes .... Lots of bondage type scenes in the shows you mention - Not to mention all the old westerns. Lots of rope got used.

No TV? Yikes
