Raise your hand if you remember that 'jingle' from Campbell's Soup. Maybe it's just me, but it seems a lot of the old TV commercials for food products had a jingle to go with them. I don't hear many ( if any ) jingles nowadays .... Do you?

"I wish I was an Oscar Meyer hot dog......." I remember that one well and I remember the jingle for the other brand of hot dog too. Now that I think about it, several other food commercial jingles are coming to mind too. Are any of you out there singing one right now that the subject has come up? One or two might be running through your head all day .... You're welcome.

Back to Campbell's soups. I don't know about you, but I've never been a big on soup. When we dine out, I always go with the salad vs soup and I rarely grab a bowl when I'm at a buffet. The exception would be if they have clam chowder .... That usually calls my name. No, I do not crush up crackers and put in any soup - WTF!

Does chili qualify as a soup? I love a good bowl of chili and have that fairly frequently. I go to dinner with some friends every Thursday night and we meet in the cafeteria of one of the local hospitals. They have homemade soups - two selections - and I always have a bowl. It is nothing short of delicious! I guess this is my exception to the 'no soup for me' rule.

Yes, my hand is raised.

Absolutely, I crush up some crackers and put it in my soup - gives the soup a certain kind of "thickness".

Usually, the soup selection at a restaurant doesn't thrill me, so I'll take the salad instead.

Chili falls into a gray area. If you buy canned chili, it is usually located in the same grocery aisle as canned meat, not in the soup aisle. One of life's mysteries, perhaps?

I can't think of many current food commercials that have a jingle - in fact, I can barely think of any commercials for foods (exception being the Spam commercial, and commercials for fast food). But if you want to ask me about all the drug commercials on TV....

I count chili in a league of its own. I love grated cheese and chopped onions in mine. It's kind of like eating dynamite .....

I hear you ... Drug commercials abound on TV nowadays, as do commercials for fast foods. They sort of compliment one another - Do they not?

Never tried it, myself, but I've heard from several women over the years that they prefer 'Cream of Sum Yung Guy', think it might be a Chinese soup...

Yeah ... That sounds very Chinese.

I hope it doesn't have raw fish in it!

Cafeteria at a hospital?? Isn't all Hospital food generally bad? Or is that sentiment woefully out of touch?
How about "plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is." That was either Alka Seltzer or a restroom emergency.

Soup, I could take or leave. Nothing against it but I don't seek it out.
However, I'm one of those who do tend to leave a few torn cracker packets by my bowl.

Yeah .... And the cafeteria serves remarkably good food! On Thursday nights they serve a la carte oriental selections as the main course, but there is always a sandwich bar and a salad bar. The sandwiches are delicious and you get your money's worth.

There is also always a wide selections of deserts available - Mainly large yummy cookies. This is no ordinary cafeteria I guess .... Although I have no other hospital
cafeterias to compare it with.

The only soups I really like are of the bean variety

Then you must enjoy chili, as I do. We go to the Texas Roadhouse every Tuesday and chili is always one of my 'sides'.

I open a can ta home every now and then, but not too often.

I am not a fan of canned soups. I do enjoy soup, especially when it gets cold here. I make bone broth, so I enjoy making Pho. I am also lucky in that at the new plane, there is a little market that has soups. I have found a few I like and a few I don't. It is a nice change to just drop by when I am over there and pick up a few servings. Makes for easy meal prep.

I have never tried Pho, though I have a cousin that swears by it. There is a restaurant here called Pho-nomenal. Is that a creative name or what!?!?

Great name ... We just might have to drop in one day. I agree about the canned soup .... Nyet! amp;
