Under Consideration

I see this term used here and there on ALT all the time. Whenever I do, I think to Myself, "A newbie caught up in the jargon of someone equally new".

I know, I know .... Some of the more experienced and 'Old School' BDSMers use this phrase too. I'm just relating what goes through My mind when I see it. I will add that it seems 9 times out of 10 that the person using it will show on their profile that they are 'new' to the scene. THAT certainly influences My reaction.

Now some of you will tell Me to, "See page 35, paragraph 6, section A" of the BDSM Code of Conduct. Well, I've lost My Code of Conduct, so I'm just winging it here. It would seem to Me (Dumb and naive as I am) that ANY relationship starts with BOTH parties being Under Consideration by the other. Am I missing something?

When I see a submissive/slave use the term, I think, by definition, that she is already caught - Hook, line and sinker and that the only determining factor now is if the Dom/Master decides she will 'pass' some arbitrary testing of her worthiness. Again, I may be missing something.

your mileage may indeed vary.

G

I too see that many times...If someone said to me ...I will *consider* you...I am thinking to myself ...turn and walk away..

I know my worth..now maybe I will consider you!

Peace to you....

I have a similar reaction (though mine is influenced by my bias against what I consider unnecessary online jargon) when I see the constant capitalization of first person pronouns regardless of where they occur in a sentence. But that's just me.

I remember now.

Excellent response to him! If it ever happens again, keep this one in mind..... "Why don't you consider fucking yourself?" Come back to My blog any time! G

Nothing personal, G. Like the "under consideration" status, I see the unnecessary (in my opinion) capitalization of first person pronouns all over this site (as well as other sites).

As some of my friends here can tell you: I reserve my real barbs for the use of UPPERCASE/lowercase. That particular online affectation damn near makes my eyes bleed.

I remember now.

You and I are in total agreement on that one! If I see a W/we or similar item, my brain about explodes. Similar to a your vs you're or there vs their .... Just two examples of other misuses of the English language. Oh well, it takes all of us to make the world go around. G
