Runner kills mountain lion that attacked him Goooood dammmmmmmmmnnnnnnn Saw all these reports about a runner that killed a mountain lion that attacked him on a trail. Apparently the dude strangled him. Funny though the man is never named and there is no pic,( of the man or the mountain lion,) So obviously my total bullshit meter is registering full.. Have you ever had a house cat bite you or go all whiskey tango on you? You can't even get close to it Now imagine that house cat with at least 100 more lbs easily My German shep.. sable good girl.. is smaller than a mountain lion and there's no way in f ing hell anyone..not even Chuck norris..could " strangle" that dog. So how could anyone strangle a mountain lion on your back, I'm calling this one fake news. |

Nobody but a tabloid newsie takes a photo of a guy who probably got chewed up while strangling a mountain lion. I mean, there's blood and guts everywhere, and little children read the newspaper.

Just checked it out with a few diverse sources. It was a juvenile cat, but the guy still got bitten in the face. We're not supposed to take pics of bloody faces. Bad taste 'n 'at, not to mention privacy concerns.

When I moved into my house, I had a Somali cat (long haired Abyssinian), sweetest thing you could imagine, but I dropped a box and startled her. She was making mountain lion noises I can't figure out where they came from, and it was three days before I even dared to approach her. If I'd tried to pet her, I would have pulled back hamburger. This was about a 5kg cat and I would have given her even odds. She finally took a treat and relaxed. It's what I always say about cats, they have six ends and five of them have brutal sharp points to protect the sixth.

Thats why i call bs. The mountainlion jumps on his back and.." bites his face".. Huh?.. big cats always go for the neck.. Watch your house cat..in my case my cat at work..let her jump in your lap My cat sinks her claws into the fabric of my hoodie for additional stability.. it is very hard to detach her. Ive also had the cat miss time a jump and put her claws into my leg...and omg its worse than a ball kick..instant pain. So if something as big as a mountainlion jumped on this dude's back, it's claws would have entered his skin. Dude was out running ..meaning at best he was wearing a t shirt. And seeing how our hide isn't as thick as say a wildebeest.. it would have caused instant trama. Im guess it is like getting hit with a bullwhip. How does one strangle a beast that is on your back? Try being a dick to your household cat...it will claw you.. I cant imagine what a household cat would do if you even held it too tight. Finally..if im in a fight for my life with an animal, im gonna do what puts the most distance between me and it...like running..climbing a rock..or atleast kicking. Im not leaning in with my head and using my shorter arms.. to punch or strangle it.

I agree with the above. Not sure how this scuffle went --but it must have been a small cat. I can almost believe that story if it were less than 20 lbs. Notice that neither the picture of the runner nor the dead mountain lion has surfaced. Perhaps this is the cover story for how he was really injured.
