Don't buy a Nissan vehicle

I just read that Nissan took a huge financial hit yesterday.

Meaning if they were like GM ..they knew about their finances and most likely nickel and dime their cars together for the past few years or so.

Also the oil will leak out of the engine...yep.
My roommates owns a Nissan Altima05 .and the oil barely measured on the dipstick...meaning he had about a quart to a quart and a 1/2 of oil left in the engine.
And no low oil warning lights went off...the dealership said that only comes on when the car is below 1 quart period..
Huh?

Yet there is no oil stain in the driveway and he isnt burning oil

So i did some research and Nissan has bad o rings on its oil cooler. On newer models it has bad gaskets ( on the oil cooler )that slowly let the oil drain out of the car.
Ofcourse Nissan refuses to do a recall...the dealership can't even tell me the live expectancy of one of their o rings..
I was told to change it as needed..
Huh? Like when all the oil runs out of the engine..

In my roommates Altima it literally is an engineering nightmare..the oil cooler connects to the oil pan with an o ring...on the backside
But the oil filter directly threads into the oil cooler on the front side
So yep..everytime you do an oil change you might be slightly disturbing that o ring seal.

I see alot of Nissan Altima on the road and now wonder if they realise how shitty this car company is

Let me see f I understand...

The kid is driving around in a 15 year old car and doesn’t so much as check the oil until he’s a quart and a half down...?

Ok. 🤔

Well he is disabled to begin with...has diabetes..has half a foot, has 1 lung thanks to a flesh eating bacteria..and his thigh bone is gone and replaced by a steel rod.
So yeah he's not gonna be doing alot of routine maintenance.
So please refeign from taking pot shots at the disabled.

But then again how many healthy people check their oil levels?

The cars age has little to do with this leak..it is also happening on the newer models..

And lets be honest there is a huge difference between the old beater car's oil is down a lil.
And holy fuck there is only a quart left.

Plus like I said there is no evidence of an oil leak..
It slowly comes out of that oil ring.

It is a poor ass design on the 05..in 08 then redesigned it...and it still fails..but now you have to pull the axle out to even get to the oil cooler.
I thought Ford's were bad to work on.

I just thought i would post this because everyone seems to own a Nissan now

Good call, Leo. Some Nissan models were once good, others have been sketchy.

I had an '03 pathfinder 4x4 for 15 years. It was a more reliable car than the FourRunner when I bought it. Dragged logs and boulders out of the woods like Babe the blue ox. Never a problem until the springs started to go. Was just about to trade it in when some nut probably on a joy ride with a stolen car blasted through a stop sign and I hit him and spun both of us around. Total loss. The other driver shook his head until the cobwebs cleared and then booked. I hope I at least gave him a concussion. lol Insurance gave me more than twice the blue book value, so I got the last laugh. Bought a '17 Highlander and gave up dragging logs.

The newer pathfinders are crap. Wouldn't touch one with a barge pole. It seems to depend on the year and model for other makes, but everything Nissan is making now seems to be junk. They used to at least make a few good models back in the day.

I don't own one. They couldn't pay me enough to own a rice burner.
