protests, looting, riots

Call it what you will, people are gathering in large numbers and venting their frustrations, at the very least. This seems like the only way certain groups of people are going to have their voices heard in this country, so I hope if / when someone finally does start to listen this doesn’t turn out to be more about civil disobedience and less about justice. When you find out the protestors burned down a black-owned business, for example, you start to wonder.

That George Floyd was murdered is not under dispute - we have the snuff film available for everyone to watch, over and over again. The scum pig that did the killing is under arrest, but he has only been charged with 2nd Degree Manslaughter, which is complete bullshit. So the riots, looting and protesting will almost certainly continue. What the fuck is wrong with those who wield authority in this country that even NOW they are STILL getting it wrong?

My lives in Nevada, and almost got caught up in some violence during a protest there. I’m urging her to stay away from it and suggesting she can do a lot more “good” by remaining safe and alive, and going to her job which actually helps the community. She has a Bachelors Degree and does social work, so getting injured or taken to jail doesn’t do her, or her , any good. She is young, and incensed, and wants to see change happen quickly. She’ll learn soon enough that no matter how violent or resistant we get in this country, the government is going to be there to reinstate the status quo. And once that happens, the systemic issues that have plagued this country will quietly return, or even increase. It’s a sad reality of the way things work here.
