another feline Friday!

There’s plenty to write about, but I thought it might be time to inundate you with pictures of the cats in my life. I’ll call this a combination mini-update and photo bomb. If you aren’t a fan, tune in tomorrow or something.

DON'T BE SURPRISED IF THE PICTURES OF MY CATS THAT I HAVE POSTED BELOVE ARE MISSING BECAUSE OF THE STUPID ALGORITHM:

This is Sinatra, our newest foster. He’s another feral, a bit older than the others, so he’s going to be a tough case to socialize and get used to people. He’s been around for over a week and this is the first clear shot (taken from video) I’ve gotten of him. During feeding time he will get a few feet away from me, and I’ve barely grazed my hand against his back one time, so that might give you an indication of how much work he is going to be.

This is Sir Payne, who’s been around a bit longer than Sinatra. He’s a lot less of a cat we have to work on and more like one we are being asked to give a comfortable home to while he waits to be adopted. He does tend to avoid human contact more than we’d like, so we’re working on that, but he is otherwise good to go to the next loving home that wants him.

Rebel is taking medication for his seizures, and it seems to have done him wonders on that, and many other levels. The cat that the shelter people thought might wind up being a barn cat is now quite easy to approach, and gets more comfortable and adventurous with humans every day. He now dives into the same tunnel that my Breo dives into when he wants me to chase and attack him, which is a phenomenal step in the right direction. A big part of me worries that he won’t get the right kind of home, so I am not so secretly thinking of keeping him around forever. No decisions have been made, I’m just growing fonder of him, and our bond is getting tighter.

That leaves my buddy Breo, who is invariably last but far from least in these posts. He continues to exhibit moody behavior like I’ve never seen in a cat, and his vocabulary of squeaks, beeps, boops, etc. seems to be expanding. With a house full of fellow felines you’d think he would be a busy boy but they all don’t interact as much as you’d think, and he spends a goodly amount of time hanging around me, trying to get me to play, or occasionally cuddle. Our connection continues to grow, and I feel like I’m giving him a decent life, which means he probably has an excellent one and I am just overly hard on myself. I only have to think about cats that live in apartments, or have owners that are gone all day, to remind myself that the cats that live with us have it pretty darn good for a while, and those that are loved by us are just plain spoiled. I do my best to be an exceptional friend to the furry felines that invade our home.
