don't make the same mistakes I did

Sometimes choosing watch a movie based on nothing but the briefest of peeks at a trailer doesn’t always work out so well. My new thing is not steer clear of the written synopsis, but also try avoid seeing the entire preview. Sometimes I’ll quit watching before it’s over, other times I’ll kind of view on fast-forward. So many sneak peeks wind up telling you pretty much the entire story, or showing you all of the good parts, and that equals supreme disappointment when done seeing the actual movie. So I go into these visual stories knowing as as possible about anything, except the genre. These leads truly magnificent surprises, and hugely disappointing failures.

Recent examples of the latter came in the form of 2 / two movies I put into the DVD player while knowing nothing more than the genre they belonged in. The first “One Night in Bangkok” was supposed to be an action flick, but had almost none in , and the second “Madtown” was I guess a mystery or thriller, but I just found the pacing and acting so awful I gave up. I vaguely recall watching the trailer for “One Night in Bangkok” and must have been something in that convinced me give a try, but I can’t recall. The movie is a direct rip off of “Collateral” starring Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise, but so dull and poorly done I saw the majority of it on 2X fast forward. “Madtown” is just a disappointment I can’t find any excuse for. I don’t recall seeing the preview, certainly didn’t have any idea what the movie was about when I popped it in, but found myself regretting my choice very quickly. I’m going to have to blame it on impulsivity and bad luck, and put it on the DVD swap site for someone else to experience. “One Night in Bangkok” is also up for grabs.
