Was That An Insult?

I was having a conversation with someone today, someone who fancied himself Tony Montana, judging by the screen name, and he (like everyone else I speak with) finally got around to asking me THE question:

Him: So, what are you looking for?
Me: Person or dynamic?
Him: lol both
Me: I'm looking for an FWB (or similar symbiotic dynamic) with military, paramilitary, former military, first responder, man in uniform. Civilians are on the list, just not very high on it, unless they are of like mind.
Him: Are you just looking for the aggression? Or are you just into men who are simple minded?
Me: Simple minded? In the 25 years I've spent around combat vets, I've learned that they are far from simple minded. They are highly intelligent.
Me: Contrary to popular belief, it's usually the other way around.

With that, he stopped talking.

Make no mistake, I will not stand for anyone badmouthing those who serve. They are far from simple-minded automatons, programmed by a ruthless government to kill on command like a pack of wild dogs on the hunt. They are highly skilled men and women, capable of taking apart and putting back together complex and intricate weapons and machinery of all shapes and sizes, makes and models (some in mere minutes) with speed and precision. They are capable of handling explosives of the magnitude that would make a civilian shit themselves.

So, what, pray tell, would lead anyone to believe these men and women are simple minded? The image of the beloved Grunt? If that's the case, how many shit-talking, lip-flapping Joe Blow Schmuckatelli civilians would step up and do the jobs of these so-called "simple-minded" servicemen and -women, and actually GET IT RIGHT???

There are certain reasons why military personnel top my list. This was but ONE shining example.

I'm different.
I will give you my treasure chest of darkness first. If you can handle that, then I'll bring out my shining moons. If one cannot handle the darkness, then one should not deserve the light. I have no interest in "trapping" anyone in a silken web.
I have no silken web. - C. Joybell C.

Dark, I want to Thank You for your attention to Vets. I have served USA in 3 different uniforms and damn proud of it. I truly appreciate someone who comes to the aid of our men and women in uniform. Freedom isn't free and protecting it isn't for the weak.

Thank you, Barbra, for having worn those uniforms, and for having done what so few have the fortitude to do.

I may not agree with the policies or reasons for why our men and women are sent off to foreign lands, but that doesn't mean I won't do everything in my power to make sure to support them while they do what they do, or help them when they come back.

Some of the most intelligent people I know served in our Nation's Armed Forces, and gross generalizations such as that not only shame those uniforms but those who choose - CHOOSE - to wear them and defend those who remain so blissfully ignorant.

Apologies, Barbra, for the rant. One of the few subjects I'm truly passionate about. Thank you once again, and welcome home.
