gossip, I have elderly neighbors, a married couple, she is mental and he is braindead, hehehe, we dont get along..... Does not matter. I tried very hard to be just nice to them, greet them, explain them what i do, when gardering, (permaculture) but they are just tooo stupid. They live by assumptions; There are so many enemies, everything is dangerous! Blacks are dangerous! Chinees are the enemy, A single woman living on her own, must be some kind of ....  Really! Even invited them into my house, so their curiosity about me and my life, will stop Nothing helps. They follow me, to shops, they are Seriously mental. i called the Building company, the district manager, i tried everything, to just be left alone... They have no moral compas. Today i saw they are having some sort of family & friends gathering in their house...? Corona does not excist for them? Social distancing does not count for them? Really! Having (good) neighbors can be a blessing. I have traveled a lot, moved a lot, lived in a lot of different parts of The Nederlands, never had any problem with neighbors. But, this lot? gruewesome. Having a party now ?

Now you can understand the old joke about how no good deed can go unpunished. In the USA the biggest neighbor problem is junky yard enforcement. It is a "complaint driven" process, so it tends to be unevenly enforced. I have a neighbor who almost gets down and manicures the blades of grass. Then he gripes to the city about anything in my yard he decides is unsightly. This last time they cleared out my yard they showed up with no advance notice and along with the other stuff they took they removed my barbeque grill and firewood. The big motivation is to hold up property values and in this the city is an ally because they want the property tax money. This is also why "Tiny Homes" are so hated by property owners and all cities. They would depress property values and the tax base. Yet while the neighbor to one side of me complains about my back yard, a neighbor across the street had more and worse junk in his yard that rotted there for TEN YEARS and nobody complained. It's all about motivating nosey neighbors to be SNITCHES. In my old neighborhood I was known for being that neighbor who happily pitches in and helps you shovel your driveway after a snow storm. Even for the actual mental case across the street who called the Police on us for a "welfare check" because our storm door latch failed and let the door flap one day.

Bob, I get that, Here in Holland, we had people who SNITCHED, collaborated with the Germans during wartime, telling them were some judes were hiding, black markets and all that kind of thing. These neighbors have that kind of mentallity too Those people were called NSBers, after the political party... who also worked for and with the Germans, In Holland calling someone a NSBer is a very big curse word! You dont use that lightly. I dont think they dare to complain, because they allready have a rapport about their behaviour.. a very long rapport... The housing company cant do anything about them, but they know about their behaviour. I even had some social worker trying to mediate this situation, nothings works, except the neck shot solution!   I never mind what my neighbors do, or dont do, as long as the behave and dont bother me, with their problems, i am fine with them. always willing to help.... though, but not nosy. But not with those people! You cant cure stupid! Thank you for visiting my blog,

steelcager, the same here, this is not a big city or such, but a lot of people are outside, walking with their children? dog? Dont get it, either.

drmgirl, indeed, i always had a very good understanding with my neighbors, about helping each other out, with shopping, or shoveling snow or garden work, helping each other, drinking some tea, just social behaviour. The glue of a social function world, neigborhood. But not with them!

Good neighbors are a gift, like pearls, very very rare. But I did live next to a nymph in the 70’s it was great, but my wife didn’t believe how much milk she kept in her house, because I always came back to our apartment with a quart of milk....And I’m lactose intolerant 😂😂

jenny, yes, i was wondering if i should report them... But since this Corona virus outbreak i have not seen 1 cop on the streets, anywhere... They too, have been economize, cut down like mad! Have build a very fancy Headquarter outside the "city" centre....

HeartlyLooking, Yes! Especially when i just want to be left alone, live my life, do my thing, whithout them allways watching every move i made... They are mentally sick... In this Corona time, era, moving is not that easy.... I wish they went to live in a elderly home, then they can pester all other old people, living there....

abody, indeed, like Pearls, I have had very fine, nice neighbors, untill i came live in this part of Holland, The Nederlands. You just cant get normal social contact with the people here.... I tried for more then 7 years, i know.....
