This weekend,

This weekend is bird counting day.
So, you have to sit in your garden for about 30? minutes or something like that.
You count what you see, recognise and sent that info in.

SO, i am going to buy some extra bird food.
it seems the blackbird is not doing very well.

The other morning, lovely early, there was this ONE blackbird singing welcome to the world, again...

Just ONE?!
It was a very sad moment.
There was no other blackbird answering her/ him...
Such a sad song... alone....

The world becomes a very strange, scary world, when you dont hear any bird song, anymore!
That is not natural!

The same is happening in the UK ! The RSPB reckon that between 5 & 6 million birds have been lost here !!!!! Very Sad as I love looking at & listening to them ! My best spot being eagles on the Isle of Mull !!! Amazing !!!

I have cardinals that live in my area. I just love hearing them "talk" to each other.

If you really want to know whats going on in the environment. Look for frogs, not toads but frogs. Frogs are very sensitive to environmental changes. An absence of frogs can tell you a lot. a birds lungs are about 20 times more efficient than a human's. If there's an unacceptable amount of pollution they are going to go some place else. They also follow the food source. So if their's an absence of native food. There's an absence of birds that live off that food source. I live in the country with lots of woods. I have a lot of birds that visit my feeders. I make sure they have plenty to eat especially when there's snow on the ground. A bird bath will attract birds. Once you set out feeders it may take a couple of weeks before word gets around to the birds that you have food available.

alwaysassertive,
I live in a densiliy populated area,
Houses are build almost right on top on one and an other, i can look into the kitchen from my backdoor neighbours, from my up stairs bedroom..
Fences are every where, sooo ugly!

I started feeding birds the moment i rent this house.
I always did feed the birds, every place i lived.
I have a bird bath too.
The crows fight the Jay over the food.

Blackbirds dont migrate anymore, they stay in Holland, but they had this desease, some kind of flu or funges?

My neighbours hate nature, try to controle every one and every thing.
They are only happy, when birds and all the insects are dead~
sick fucks~!

There is a two ponds, outside this village, every summer i hear frogs there, see them hop around too.
I love the sound of frogs.
Crickets especially, but to be able to hear those, i have to go to Spain/ Portugal/ France...

Hmm, well, when you hunt for your own use, it is much better, then the meat you buy in he shops!
Or, so i think....
I never killed anything to eat it.
except for plants!

Yes, wild dogs were a problem in Portugal too.
They attack any body, who is walking around in the hills in the evening.
You need to have a big stick with you, they hunt in packs, it was a bit scary, when i was in Portugal...
