Ayurveda!

Joepiee!
Finally got a moment to take the time to write about this magic eat, feed and living knowledge.
It is from India and it is very old.

Also Ayurveda and Yoga are from the same source.
It is really, from its core very spiritual,
Mind, body and sould. holistic view on health, not only by treating the symptoms, but to look at the whole person.
What does this person need?
Where are the disbalances.....

They say, every sickness, illness, is because of the wrong kind of food, for that type of person.
Ayurveda can also be used to detox the body.
They have the most intense, exquisite kind of massages, with warm oil, herbs.
Very shooting, very relaxing.
Also to be used as a kind of detox for your skin or your organs.

There are three ayurvedic types of people and what they need,
Coming from India, they use a lot of Hindi words.
You just have to get use to it.
The are three types of qualifications in Ayrveda

You all have one kind of dosha, your specific type of person
or a mix of those.

I am a Vatta -Pitta kind of person, that means i have a sort of duality in me.
(ha! does that ring a bell?)

Vatta - Pitta, kind of people are slim, with sometimes red hair, dry skin and some other specific things that are Vatta-Pitta people
Vatta- Pitta are also very sensitive, empathic people, with sometimes, too big a heart, for this cruel world.

Wich also shows in what is best for me, to eat
On the one hand i love heat, but on the other hand, too much heat, will burn me up, so i have to find a balance in thoso two parts of my dosha.

Sometimes i really dislike all this knowledge, it forces you to totally throw everything out the window, what ever it was, your family told you, about good food.
Or you picked up, yourself, by reading or following courses, or such...

But, i have noticed that if i do that, i dont feel well, get a bloted stomach, have a lot of gass.. or stomach acid.... dont sleep well, become irritable....

So, now i try to find a middle way, for me, to deal wiith all this new fantastic knowledge and totally new tastes, new herbs too
and still keep some of my own wisdom about food, what i gathered in the last 30 years....or so...
Ayurveda is in its basics, vegetarian, but you can eat egg, cheese, meat, if it fits your kind of dosha.

The other dosha is Kappa, that are most of the time a bit sturdy people, who do have a difficulty with losing weight.
They do like eating and cooking, a lot, have a big digestion fire in them.
But easily over eat!
But, do also have a very clear dislike of certain vegies, or meat

The thing is, al least, that is what i believe, every know from a very early age, from within, what is best for them.

My own had as a 3 year old, suddenly a very big taste in leek?!
A 3 year old!
"Normally" that age, dont like such sharp flavour.

She even fought with me, screaming and shouting; it is mine!
Alright! you go ! It is yours! stop shouting! Behave!

To be the one to carry- read; eat the leek, while we were on our way back home!
A raw leek!
At home she would not let go of the leek, untill she almost finished it.
I found that very funny, so i let her have her leek!
This was a ritual for weeks, and suddenly, it was over!

I tried it with mushroom, carrots, beet, but she never was much interested in those.
And still does not like them.

I love to cook with a lot of herbs, garlic, ginger, onion, and now i have a totall new scale of herbs i can use.
I like the different kind of flavours they give to my dinner and breakfast too.

So, AYURVEDA, for the more holistic approach on food and being healty.

I mean, common! All the stuff you put into your mouth, all day long, every day again and again, that must have some kind of effect on your overall health ?
Dont you think?

Still sometimes i eat things, that dosha wise are very bad for me.
Try to find the balance.

It is a great journey, to learn more about my own health and what i can do, to make it even stronger!
More blalanced!

I think, it is worth the time to invest, if it could help you, for the better, if you have things like insomnia, or stomach acid, or bad skin....

Find a good AYUREVEDIC centre in your environment and make an appointment.

In Holland, my insurance company, depending on your bonus, gives you some money back...

And, tomorrow i will start again, with making my porridge with ayurvedic herbs, Ghee butter, black mustrad seeds, i love it.

Keep healty and happy, that is good for the lucky hormons in your bloodstream, too!
I believe, that you can monitor your own health pretty much, in the good direction

Only things like cancer and other illnesses.... I dont know.....
Maybe, that is possible, to cure, with the ayurvedic knowledge too?!

drmgirl,
Thank you, this is just a very short summary, it has soo much more aspects of it, in it, to be a very holisitic way of living.
For a change, you always have to work, sometimes hard, this counts here too.
To try and incoporate this, in your day to day living...
