The woods or the forest?

Again, i was on my bike, through the forest, i love it there!
The birds, and not hearing the trafic noise too much....

It is my little safe heaven.
So, i did find an other path, what was, sort of new to me....
I am soo bad at directions!! my personal compass goes all directions! LOL

I was just enjoying myself, watching nature and look at all the plants that did get out of their hybernation...
Just being tranquilo.
So fine!! so neat!!

These forests, are connected with each other by ( bicycle) paths...
You can bike from one part into the next, it is a really great ride.

So, i came to a bend in the road, and all of the sudden, i am looking right into the face, of a bird of prey!!
I was in awe!!
Sighs........
He looked at me, i looked at him, and i was already past him....
Such a thrilling moment!

The next bend in the road, i am a bit of a dreamer on the bike, very dangerous!!
But soo very relaxing, for me.....
And all of the sudden, i hear a woodpecker right in the top of the tree i just past by!!

I was very emotional about those two events...
I got my little gifts from nature, while i was on my way.
It felt soo good!!
It has been a while, just because of the cold, i dont want to faint there, and dont get found, because some parts are very remote, distant....

It is very quiet in the woods, during some times of the day.....
There are only the birds, the trees and me......
Ever so happy!

There is this farm that is also a ecological shop and a little cafe, too.
it is a great place to be, you smell farming!! manure!
Cows, sheep, chicken, horses, and all kind of other small animals

The people working there, are all a bit off.. Aint we all?
You know?
Live in protected care houses, and they "work"on this farm
There is also a small camping field.

They sell their own cow meat, and chicken too, eggs ofcourse and in summer time
they make their own ice cream!

Their place is a sort in between pause place, to just talk to the cows, dogs and walk around a bit, drink and eat something small.
And on my way again, to that other place.
They have a real great butcher in that other village.

It is a very nice route to go biking, ánd do some shopping, at the same time!
I can take new routes everytime i go there....
I like that!
Trying to get my personal compass working! LOL.

It was a great day to be out and about!

Living in the woods is a luxury, being able to walk in the forest, trim the trees to protect them, work with the wildlife, and then the privacy! Building with the trees that needed thinning. Watching the woodpeckers eat the bugs that killed a tree.

I too live in a forest, for the exact reasons you describe... Yet only 15 miles from the Gulf of Mexico, Kind of the best of two different worlds

Joseph,
I totally understand, that is not possible in this country, with this weather/climate. Too crowded...too

I hope to go live like that in Portugal, even if i rent the place, i am fine, with that...'
I love to work in the outside, especially when it is almost always warm and maybe even HOT!
NO more Dutch climate/ winters!

Last place I lived for almost 10 years, had woods and pastures. I miss looking out and seeing the horses. Chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys roaming around. The tweakers got so bad we had to move. The meth addicts would even steal my scrap metal and several grand worth of tools seemed to grow legs and walk off. It's not bad here though. Some nights I can hear the humming of tug boat engines going up and down the Mississippi River, it's a mile or so away.

boh,
Thanks,
No long distances, though, it might have been about 12 km, in all....
and very fulfilling.

bikerforslut,
I first have to bike about 3 km, before i am in the woods, but then, it is all joy and feelings of happiness, even when it is not really nice temps.
I live in a village.. all bricks around me,. except for my little garden, 5 by 7 meters...
