Snow! It happened! We did have some snow, wet snow and some hail too It is freezing cold! And, today, i did not see my stray cat the whole day. As his loving cat mommy i was worried. It is too cold and he is becoming real old..... So, i walked to the kitchen window almost the whole day, calling his name and all the strange, crazy fantasy names i give him! Finally, at the end of the afternoon, he was there!! I let him eat in my shed, it is soo cold, so he could, if he wishes, sit there for a while... He was very hungry, it is really funny to see him open his jaw and try to fill the whole plate with meat in his face. He is soo afraid, even after all those years i feed him..... I feel for him. I would like to have him in my house, when it is cold or rainy all day. But i believe he will attack me, when i try to get him into my house... So i dont. I dont want to give him even more stress.... it was freezing cold! The last days. frost in the nights, too... There seem to be some more snow coming our way. I dont like that, at all. Wait and see, in Holland they always make a whole drama about weather changes, panic fase 9, while in real, there is nothing much going on, sighs..... |

All those layers of clothes i have to put on, before i can get out of my house.... no fun.

1. Don't feed stray pets, the nature have to solve their issue. 2. If you can't keep it, don't feed it because it will wander around your house. 3. The cat does not get cold because this is why it has a fur on its body, it has a very good coat. 4. If you want to do something for it, ask a cat rescue organisation to remove it from the streets. Or tell the local municipality to do that. It works well here in Central and Eastern Europe. It should work there too. You, ladies you have too good heart, one of my female friends begged to me on an excursion until she was "allowed" to give food to 2 cats. Oh, ladies, your good hearts... But every biologist, ethologist, animal rescuer says that don't feed wildened pets (dogs and cats). We only feed birds with bird food and only in the harshest winter to get fat and energy. After the harshest times goes away, feeding is stopped. These birds must go back to the nature and get their food from there. Cats and dogs are not part of the nature, they must be removed from the streets in order to avoid damages to the endemic animal species which are in danger not only from human activity but also because of wildened dogs and cats which decimates them further.

Bless you for looking out for this poor creature. There are alot of cold hearted people that abuse and neglect animals. Our 2 fur faced kids were dumped at the levee in oct right before cold winter set in. About 6 months old and not in good shape. They are happy, healthy now, been here 3 years now. We will make sure they are loved and want for nothing.

It's good that you thought of the cat in that foul weather, they have a hard time in even small snow storms to sometimes find food, but probably has a fairly warm 'den' it might even share with raccoons, no kidding! food and water are necessary for their survival...most feral cats would be TOO AFRAID to come into a human's home Rosa.

hungaroboy, We here, dont have the same amount of stray/ wild cats and dogs people have in Eastern, South Europe. Most are just cats, who had a litter way too early and the "owner"of that cat, kicked the litter out, way too young, too. Those cats get chipped, when people can get their hands on them, offer them a house, and socialise them, again, bring them to a vet and get them checked. This cat was already old, when he started visiting my garden, being a cat person, i started buying cat food, because it was obvious that nobody gave him something to eat... He was in a horrible shape. Ever since the littlle bugs are killed with the use of all the argriculture pioson, there is not much to eat for the birds anymore. So, that is why i do feed the birds daily. I do understand your point of view, mine is just different. In Spain, in the countryside, there are packs of wild dogs, known to be attacking lonely wanderes, people walking around after dark, without a big stick. In Spain, there is a real problem with stray dogs, ( and cats too) Not so much here, in Holland, as far as i know....

biker, Yes, being a cat person, i just cant let it happen, when i see a cat in distress. I must help. That is in my genes. This is all i can do, for him, he does comes in the shed, sometimes, but only when i keep the door open, as soon as the door falls close, he is in a totall panic state. So, i keep the door open, for him, when he comes in, to eat. There are a few more cats, who also really "LOVE" me, feeding them. But i leave it at this one cat. Otherwise ,i will be feeding all the cats in this neighborhood. They have a owner.

BillywildMartin, Thank you, I am feeding this cat as long as i live in this house, about 7 or 8 years now.. I can see the struggle in him, when he is inside the shed, watching the door, watching me and looking inside the house.... I always make sure, he has a way to get out, i dont stand between him and a door. keep my distance, about 1 and a half meter... Sometimes he let me touch him, pet him, but that is not very often most of the time he will hit me!

virtualcuzi, Sometimes cats can be a pest, sometimes they can be a big help. You dont have to take them, all, into your house!

No sign of snow just yet , but the freezing cold temperatures make the evening walks a little less fun ......... tights on under the trousers and still too cold - so I walk a lot faster !! The thermo reckons this morning started at -3c and only got as high as 5c - don't think I'll be out over the weekend. D-J xx

davina, You are my hero! You wont see me outside after it gets dark/even colder, then in daytime. I HATE the cold.
