I am upset,

I asked my if she was willing and able, to buy me some piece, equipment to protect myself, on the road.
I told her, you can get your money back, that is no problem.

We talked a bit more about this specific equipment...
and if she had to be registered, when she buys it?
I really dont know.

Here in Holland, we have other laws about carrien those tools..
I dont want to use that one word...

All of the sudden, her partner is breaks into our conversation and is going all the way.
About law and police going to shoot me, if i dare to use it, and what i am planning to do is totally illegal...
He was full force going on!
It felt like he was attacking me!

Come on, show some respect!
he is goddamn it, half my age!!

I was totally flabbergasted!
I know this shops sell those items all the time.
They have them on show, in the shop, they are in various sizes and materials.

It is legal to have such tool in your home.
You can not even kill someone with it!
It is just to scare someone away......
Give me time to get out of where ever i am....

If you want to move around with it, you have to keep the two important ingredients apart from each other!
It is all very logical.

He did not appogise for his behaviour, at all.

I dont know what i triggered with this, in his brain.
But my god, it was some heavy shit!!

I wont ever ask them something again
I dont need his shitload over me, again!

i will go to that shop on my own, and buy it...
It was such an easy request..

You dont have to hide it, or something like that, or buy some special bag for it,
it will fit in your inner pocket of your coat...
What a drama!!

I will ask him, an other time, what the matter was, with him....

Calm down with a cup of tea, sit, relax, and think of ways to do what you think you need to do on your own.
And whatever it is keep yourself safe by all means.
Kids are kids, we often miscommunicate things, and if there is anything I have learned so far it is that sometimes they need not know many things and whatever I can do without him - I should do it that way.
It will pass, Rosa. Don't sweat over it, you will sort this out perfectly well on your own.

ExName,
Yeah, you are right!
Thank you for your kind words,

I should have never asked them!
Stupid of me!
It was such an easy request... they were planning to come my way, anyway, so they could easily have gone by this shop and buy it for me, so i would not have to make an extra trip to that place/shop.....

aah, well, i wont mention it again!

I'm sorry you were so disrespected. You are very self-sufficient and don't need his approval. I'd just walk away and take care of yourself.

wk,
yes, well, he was almost attacking me for wanting to buy this.
Threaten me with calling the police on me.....

It is totally legal in Holland.

He was way out of line, rude and disrespectfull to me and my choices...

Showing your concern, and asking if i knew what i am doing, is something else then a full attack...
Aah, well, never mind, they will be here, in a day or two and i will talk with him then, about this.

Hi Rosa, I agree with your assessment of that situation with your son-in-law, and think it wise that you have such a tool for protection. IF you are planning on taking it on your bicycle trip, you MIGHT want to check on the legality of crossing the borders of other countries and you trek south in Europe for warmer temperatures, as 'other countries' may not view ownership of such 'tools' in the same light as Holland, and may 'view' ignorance of THEIR laws as NO EXCUSE if they find you're 'carrying'...just a thought, Dear Rosa.

1benquick,
What a good idea! Thank you!

I will ask the owner of that shop, if he knows about the laws in France, and the other countrys i will travel through...
Otherwise i might end up in jail!

They are always very helpful to explain things about the stuff they sell...
It is a great shop!
