fake profiles & scammers

Alt. seems to be getting better at getting rid of the fake profiles (scammers I presume). Generally, within a few days of their appearance, they're gone.
My question is, is it ALT. getting rid of them, or are they (the fakes &/or scammers) just closing their profiles and leaving/moving on for some reason?
I see more closed questionable profiles that say; “profile is either turned off or inactive” than closed questionable profiles that say; “System notice: subject has been removed for abuse”. Whether they are leaving voluntarily or ALT. is shutting them down, it’s a good thing, i.e. they’re gone, goodbye, fini.
The fake profiles (scammers I imagine), seem to want you to contact them at some other email address (other than through ALT.), or text them at a phone number (? I presume). I'm not sure what they want, or how getting your email address helps them, but it feels like that's what they want, your email address. Anyone have any thoughts on this that can enlighten us as to why a scammer would want your email address, and how getting your email address benefits them?
I will only communicate with folks through ALT., I don't know what having my (or any ones) email address dose for them, but if a stranger wants it, my inclination then is, I don't want to give it to them, simply because, first and foremost, there is no good reason for them to ask.

The counters are still screwed up, and I have yet to complain to customer service about the change to to their calender. I guess I'll have to write again. Is it my imagination, or has any one else noticed what appear to be fake profiles been increasing?

I've got to write to customer service again, there counters (views, winks, hot-listed) keep changing and are not accurate. Also, the date on which you added someone to a list used to appear as the date in which they were added, now it just says "over a year". Not useful!

I don’t quite understand what I was trying to say in the first line of my last blog.
However, after several nasty emails to customer service over the last few weeks, they finally fixed what I was complaining about for the past two years. Good job ALT.com customer service.

It seems to largely thought that ALT.com is blowing smoke up our ass's, that the site is populated by a fair number of made up nonexistent profiles.
This I know from experience, their custom service department is nonexistent.

Why do (what I believe are scammers) always ask you to email them at another address, and of course when you say let's communicate through ALT.'s email, you never here from them again, what do they gain by having you email them at another email address?

The scamers seem to be making a come back, why do we call them scammers, what do they do, what do they want, and how do they get it?

I think alt. is wining, the scamers profiles seem to disappear very quickly.
