I am an enthusiastic amateur musician - violin and viola - and I occasionally post videos of me playing (yes, I like the attention). 4/28/24 - This was true when I first posted and is true now. I have 6 videos available to view; or not; like my writing, these are primarily for me.

My expectations on the site are so low they are below sea level. And that extends to whether people read the profiles we take time to write for ourselves. These may not be a window into our souls, but they are certainly a window into why we are here - on ALT - and what we are and are not looking for. I can now tell as soon as I receive a message if someone has read my profile. How? Because I have specified that they must include the Question of the Day when they write to me. If I get a message and it doesn't include the question I reply so long, farewell, goodbye. But there is more. Sometimes a member will post a long and intelligent post and invite a response to it. And sometimes I will reply. And usually, not always, but most of the time, there is no follow-up. Why bother then, right? And I have heard it all about the large, huge, epic number of messages people get. I am not sympathetic. I worked for too many years in a world where I got several hundred messages a day and managed to read and control my inbox. In any event, I will continue to read carefully and reply and respond courteously and, who knows, maybe this will be reciprocated in a way that leads to a connection. I doubt it, but it could happen.

All of us tell a story about ourselves. The best of us tell a story that is deep rooted in truth and honesty. But others don't and what those stories have in common is that they don't make sense. There is some flaw in narrative that is easy to detect. A simple example: a woman in her late 40s who asserts she wants to have . Or there is an obvious disconnect between the picture posted and the age given. Or they are looking for love, romance, and their soul mate on a BDSM dating site. It could happen but that is not the way to bet. And, of course, there is tortured English and horrible spelling. Other examples?

You (ladies who post) do know that we (men and maybe other women) check your photos against any number of image databases and report you to the site manager as soon as we see that you are not who you claim to be. It would be nice if that check happened earlier, like when you first upload the picture, but it eventually does happen.
