London Calling - The Clash

Today, London just witnessed the largest rally in its history. A sea of humanity took to the streets to voice their concerns for the Palestinians and the citizens of Gaza, and to voice their displeasure and opposition to the Israeli government’s actions in Gaza, the West Bank and the occupied territories. The largest protest ever!
These large rallies are also taking place in every city across the globe, even by Jewish Israeli citizens in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. This really only means one thing. The global shift in thought. The old world is dying and will slowly be replaced by the new world. As Boomers continue to leave the planet and Millennials and Gen Z take over.
A new day is dawning as the old one fades. Joe Strummer is smiling somewhere with his fist held high.
You don’t need to comment as nothing you say can change this tide. It’s world wide and it’s inevitable, as change is the only constant!
Peace ✌🏽

Bomb cyclone sitting off California coast. Severe storm hitting California right now. Level 5 storm event. Here’s to all the residents and creatures about to go through it. Strong Atmospheric River to bring severe weather, widespread dangerous flooding, damaging winds, mud slides, power outages, hazardous travel.
That’s just the beginning. The National Weather Service Prediction Center sees conditions shaping up for a conveyor belt series of these storms through mid January. This could be the big one!
Cali, stay safe, shelter in place, have a plan and a backup plan!
Thoughts and well wishes be with you!

Winter Solstice

Happy Winter Solstice!

Winter Solstice, long used by many ancient sun and earth based tribes as a ceremonial event. The shortest day and longest night of the year. Many today take a moment to honor what has come and gone in their lives over the past year. A moment of solitude and reflection. An opportunity to reflect on the past year, to remember loved ones who’ve passed, those who’ve newly come into your life, as well as sow the seeds for improvement in the coming year.

Honor the lost who meant so much to you. Reflect on your triumphs, but do so humbly, with an eye towards making them a habit. More so, reflect on your failures and disappointments for here is where the growth lies, waiting to become a strength and positive in your life. To those you’ve hurt, make amends with yourself first, stop beating yourself up, for only then can you truly change your behavior which caused the hurt. For those that have hurt you, release the pain and forgive them, or at minimum forgive the deed and release it’s grip on you. Doing so will exorcise the grief and pain. Lastly, focus and manifest putting yourself in a more positive, enlightening, accepting environment within yourself and your outside surroundings as well.

The beauty is, it doesn’t require an elaborate ceremony or any official proclamations of a guide, shaman or priest. Simply go out after dark (the darkest night of the year), a quiet place to be alone with your thoughts. Light a sage or cedar bundle or any incense you may have on hand, or even a candle. As you work through the process of reflection (triumphs, remembering, pain, improvement) the rising smoke from the smoldering sage will carry and lift your reflections to a higher universal energy. Leaving you with clarity, renewed spirit, and sows those seeds for the coming new year. (Also don’t worry if you can’t do your personal ceremony right on the night of the winter solstice. It can be done a few days before or after….you’ve got a solid one week window to prepare and take part).

Happy Halloween everyone, thee most FUN and joyfully spooky holiday. Thanksgiving and Christmas are about gathering inside with family, locking yourselves behind closed doors.

Halloween on the other hand is about neighbors, neighborhood and community. You are happily inviting anyone and everyone onto your premises and handing out treats t o the goblins. What’s more friendly and sociable than that?

So you’ve still got time t o go grab a bag of treats, throw up minimal decoration, turn some lights on and enjoy the costumes and the cuties…..bonus there’s usually some hot moms dressed according as eye candy…I’m sure some dads as well if that’s your flavor.

Tricks n Treats,
Raven

Built and put up 7 birdhouses (from scrap lumber and boards) around the yard. Spring is here and the songbirds and finches will be arriving any . They’ll find a welcoming neighborhood of new dwellings. Tomorrow a watering station will be installed now that my sprinklers and drips have been turned on for the season. If you’re wondering if they’ll get used. I guarantee they will. All my previous years houses are occupied, nested and producing peeps yearly. So, go install a few around your own yard! Don’t forget to take care of the small non domestic critters in your life.

Has it already been one year since Covid began? That doesn’t seem possible. I know it’s dragged on and on, and the lockdowns and quarantines have taken their toll and put us all in a strange never ending “Groundhogs Day”, but still one year has flown . Almost feels like a collective lost time event.
