i had wanted to write something touching, and eloquent and heart-felt today. A brilliant requiem for those who lost their lives. i cannot. i am lost and at a loss for words. The article below touches me every time i read it....i've been carrying it around for 5 years now. To me it represents the best that we can be, in the very worst of times. NEVER FORGET.

Originally published in the Miami Herald, reprinted in the Hartford Courant, September 2001

AMERICAN FAMILY'S BICKERING ON HOLD
Leonard Pitts

They pay me to tease shades of meaning from social and cultural issues, to provide words that help make sense of that which troubles the American soul. But in this moment of airless shock when hot tears sting disbelieving eyes, the only thing i can find to say, the only words that seem to fit, must be addressed to the unknown author of this suffering.

You monster, You beast. You unspeakable bastard.

What lesson did you hope to teach us by your coward's attack on our World Trade Center, our Pentagon, us? What was it you hoped we would learn? Whatever it was, please know that you failed.

Did you want us to respect your cause? You just damned your cause.

Did you want to make us fear? You just steeled our resolve.

Did you want to tear us apart? You just brought us together.

Let me tell you about my people. We are a a vast and quarrelsome family, a family rent by racial, cultural, political, and class division, but a family nonetheless. We're frivolous, yes, capable of expending tremendous emotional energy on pop culture minutiae-a singer's revealing dress, a ball team's misfortune, a cartoon mouse.

We're wealthy, too, spoiled by readily availability of trinkets and materiel goods, and maybe because of that, we walk through life with a certain sense of blithe entitlement.

We are fundamentally decent though-peace loving and compassionate. We struggle to know the right thing, and to do it. And we are, the overwhelming majority of us, people of faith, believers in a just and loving God.

Some people-you perhaps-think that any or all of this makes us weak. Your mistaken. We are not weak. Indeed, we are strong in ways that cannot be measured by arsenals.

Yes, we are in pain now. we are in mourning and we are in shock. We're still grappling with the unreality of the awful thing you did, and still working to make ourselves understand that this isn't a special effect from some Hollywood blockbuster, isn't the plot development from a Tom Clancy novel.

Both in terms of the awful scope of it's ambition, and the probable final death toll, your attacks are likely to go down as the worst acts of terrorism in the history of the United States and, indeed the history of the world. You have bloodied us as we have never been bloodied before.

But there is a gulf of difference between making us bloody, and making us fall. This is the lesson Japan was taught to it's bitter sorrow the last time anyone hit us this hard, the last time anyone brought us such abrupt and monumental pain. When provoked by this level of barbarism, we will bear any suffering, pay any cost, go to any length, in the pursuit of justice.

I tell you this without fear of contradiction. I know my people, as you, i think, do not. What I know reassures me. It also causes me to tremble with dread of the future.

In days to come, there will be recrimination and accusation, fingers pointing to determine whose failure allowed this to happen and what can be done to prevent it from happening again. There will be heightened security, misguided talk of revoking basic freedoms. We'll go forward from this moment sobered, chastened, sad. But determined too. Unimaginably determined.

On this day, the family's bickering will be put on hold. As Americans we will weep, as Americans we will mourn and as Americans, we will rise in defense of all that we cherish.

Still, I keep wondering what it was you hoped to teach us. It occurs to me that maybe you just wanted us to know the depths of your hatred.

If that's the case, consider the message received. And take this message in exchange. You don't know my people. You don't know what we're about. You don't know what you just started.

But your about to learn.

This blog will also be known by the name of We Can't Remember Shit!!!, or Boozy Sluts in
Boston, or if Y/you prefer Drunken Floozy's, Tipsy Ho's, Trashed Tramps or Sloshed Harlots;
take Y/your pick. This blog also comes with the following disclaimer:

THIS is the TRUE account of what happened in Boston, donna and laura...well, lets just say,
their accounts might be a bit skewed. ESPECIALLY, if they present me in any other light than the perfect angel of which i claim to be. Rest assured P/people Boston still stands, yet i think we gave the Grande Olde Dame of N.E. a bit of a run for her money, and next year i'm sure the shenanigans will be even more noteworthy.

Friday--isn't it funny how you meet some people and it just seems like you've known them
forever? Thats the way it felt with these lovely ladies. Couldn't have asked for better
partners in crime, truly. After getting into the hotel, and a few moments to get further
acquainted i had to go meet up with Mike for an evening of cocktails and chat. He picked
me up at the hotel, and yes, i did look hot!!!! (An aside, it IS possible to go through 5
outfits in what amounted to 2 days, SO, even though i thought i over packed, i still went
through almost everything in my bag)Ok, so, this Man is GORGEOUS....His picture does not do Him
justice at all, AND He has a great personality, sweet and Lifestlye knowledgeable, and not
nearly as conceited as i thought he would be,(teehee), intelligent and a TRUE Dom.....*swoons
a lil*. Alas, i don't think it was meant to be between Him and i, but W/we did have a
lovely evening, hmmmmmm, i might have had a BIT, and note i just said "A BIT" to much to
drink, but what hell, i was on vacation and not driving. Mike was a perfect Gentleman
though, (much to my dismay...*L*, i really could have used a good ravishing!!!) and i ended the night safe and sound at the hotel. After an after action report with the girls i skipped off to bed.....with visions of singletails dancing in my head.

Saturday--after a nights sleep and a rushed breakfast, we were able to make plans to
meet up with Mark downtown. Another hottie!!!....Boy, i've got great taste in friends!!!Mark played tour guide for us, and did fabulous job, and it was a fantastic day all around. After consuming a few pints at The Green Dragon, purely for medicinal purposes mind Y/youThen the walking tour began. We did Beacon Hill, the Public Gardens(my favorite), Fanueil Hall, and Quincey Market. Sadly, Mark had to leave us a bit earlier than expected, so we trouped back to the hotel for dinner and a nap. After tarting ourselves up, and being
blown off.....ahem.......by the 3rd gentleman we were supposed to meet, we decided after
many fits and starts to just go to Moody Street and see what was going on. As we had
our dancing jones going, after much inquiry, we heard of a nightclub called Rendezvous
and decided to give it a try. Ummmmmm, ok...that was a baaaaaaad idea. After seeing
the thugged out group standing outside, it was decided that perhaps that was not the best
fit for us that particular evening, as it would have been one of those moments where you
walk into a place, and the music comes screeching to a halt...every head in the house
turns and you feel like your standing in a spot light. Ok, so BACK down Moody Street
we go...evenutally ending up at another bar. Obviously it didn't make that big of an
impression on me, because i don't even remember the name of it. We're like what the hell,
lets have a few shots and then go back to the hotel room, drink the beer we have there,
and have our naughty nightie pajama party that we had planned on. THAT my friends is when
the fun began!! Ok, so our cab driver stephanie was hot as a pistol...she had us either
screaming with laughter or screaming in fright, as she took corners on seemingly 2 wheels, ran at least one red light that we saw, smoked up a storm, swore like a sailor, and who's quote de jour was...if you can fuck, you can dance. now i'm not to sure about the veracity of that statement, but what the hey, after a few shots, it ALL made a weird kinda sense. So fast forward to 3 lil subbies in their sexy pj's drinking and talking and gossiping up a storm. i haven't laughed so hard in a LONG time. my stomach hurt and tears were streaming down my face, it was giggles galore in room 115. As to W/whom and what was discussed, well propriety forbids me from mentioning any names...hehehehe,
but if Y/your reading this....Y/your name prolly came up Music, laughter and friends
are a wonderful way to spend the evening. Thank you thank you thank you to the lovely db40c
and spoiled71, for a night i'll never forget. So we finally poured our drunk submissive
asses into bed around 4am.

Sunday-*L* i know Y/you'll all be surprised to find out we had to arrange for a slightly
later check out. One last quick trip into Boston for some Chinese food, and it was homeward bound for the girls. Nice to be home, tired at work on Monday, but worth it a hundred
times over. i would do it again in a heartbeat. In fact, we have already promised each
other to do it again next year. i however, hehehe, because i'm so close, plan to take more
advantage of all the, ummm, "city" has to offer and plan to go up again late fall. This
weekend i met some of the best P/people i could imagine, warm and funny and sweet and smart and caring. The best of the best, and i salute Y/you all: donna, and laura, and Mike and mark....kiss kiss spank spank....i'll leave it to Y/you all to figure out who gets what...actually.....nevermind.....kisses and spanks for A/all my friends!!!

Just a few last house keeping notes:

laura...is NOT a morning person. And by morning, i don't mean 8 or 9o'clock, i'm talkin'
chickie was out of it at noon still....teehee

driving in Boston, always traumatic at the best of times...especially now with the never
ending Big Dig, takes on a WHOLE new facet of "adventure" when driving with laura.

D'at's ma Boy!!!!

There is NO or bestiality allowed at "The Green Dragon"

we can sing our asses off to "Sweet Caroline"

KINKSTERS ROCK!!!!!

i am curious. A lot of the profiles, i read and seem attracted to, as well as some of my watched blogs, are of Doms that classify themselves as Sensual Sadists. While i understand the term in a general fashion, i still hesitate to contact These individuals due to my inexperience. So my question is this...how do Sadists bring along new submissives?, OR do they just prefer to play with experienced ones, pain puppies if Y/you will? i, while looking forward to walking that pain/pleasure line....know enough to say that pain for pains sake is not my bag baby. For those Dominants who enjoying giving one their first taste, if You will...do You start out slowly? gradually over a period of time increasing the level of pain as she grows used to it?, and if so.....if the infliction of pain is what gives You pleasure...how satisfying is such a scene to You? If Your limits are so far beyond my limits? i realize that prior discussion is paramount, but in the heat of the moment? i suppose each Dom is different, and must be respected as such. i may just go for it anyway........hoping the deep end isn't to deep.

Tonight i think i crossed a small hurdle in my journey....perhaps it may seem insignifigant to S/some, but it has really got me sitting here amazed. i was really looking forward to IMing with Sir this evening; W/we hadn't talked yesterday, and i was missing Him a bit. i popped up to say hello, and see how His day went. He said it was long and that He was tired and hungry. So instead of pushing the issue with all sorts of pestering questions, i merely said..."then i shall let You go". i put His needs ahead of my own. i, as He must know, wished to speak with Him at great length about everything....and nothing, yet....i did not. i wished for Him to be rested and fed and well taken care of, MORE than i wanted to satisfy my wants.....and the oddest thing is.....i'm sorta, kinda....okay with that. That i dont feel put out, or upset, or pouty. i just feel a strange sense of......happiness, and, dare i say, a wee bit of pride. Curiouser, and curiouser.

The journey continues.
